Members Kulafarmer Posted January 19, 2016 Members Report Posted January 19, 2016 I just made my 2016 post on a dog forum I belong to showing my collars. This lady replies and asks, do I make pleather items because she's an "ethical vegan". I don't want to get nasty with her, but I think she isn't looking to buy a pleather collar, she likely just wanted to turn off potential customers by pointing out I use cowhide. I already said pleather can be toxic to animals, but I feel like I want to say more. Would you all let this go and just move on, or would you take this further? I'm pretty aggravated about this but beyond what I already did I don't know what else to do. Id tell her i use dog hide Quote

George Carlin that was actually Mark Twain; Carlin quoted it well. http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/539027-never-argue-with-stupid-people-they-will-drag-you-down To follow up on another joke someone told here: If someone is a vegan and into crossfit, which do they tell you about first when you meet them? raysouth Posted January 19, 2016 Report Posted January 19, 2016 What an issue. I am a vegetarian and at times I say vegan, but still make leather goods and enjoy the craft. All a personal preference and to each his own. I do not attempt to sway anyone to my way of thinking and if eating meat is what they want to do, so be it. I have no problem either way. Just do whatever it is that makes you comfortable, enjoy every moment of your life while you are able as we all die one day and the opinions become moot. I have not been a vegetarian my entire life, just a few years, 30 or so, and find that I enjoy vegetables very much. Even attempt to grow a few but not a pro gardner either, but have fun doing it. Like the $25.00 tomato I may get. lol. I love David's response above, (eglideride). God Bless you all. Ray Quote

To follow up on another joke someone told here: If someone is a vegan and into crossfit, which do they tell you about first when you meet them? Ah? Ok, I thought it was Carlin that said that, and Twain said "Never argue with a fool; onlookers may not be able to tell the difference"? Still both funny men with a very clever way of getting their point across! Like reading both their work. Quote I used to be an Eagle, a good ol' Eagle too...

Still both funny men with a very clever way of getting their point across! Like reading both their work. Who ever said which, they both cracked me up. She still hasn't replied. It would seem she is a one and done troll. She probably searches for leather, meat, etc and makes sure to reply with a veganish post to just those. If I had more time and/or inclination, I would look for her and see what she is replying to. Possibly if I have a second I will take a quick look but I don't want to waste a lot of time on her. But if she is a vegan troll making trouble, I would like to out her. The moderators on this forum have booted people for less. And one thing I hate is people who get offended over everything and can't keep their nose out of other people's business. Quote
Members Tinkerton Posted January 26, 2016 Members Report Posted January 26, 2016 Just out of curiosity, what exactly did she say that inspired such an venomous reaction? Quote
Members chiefjason Posted January 26, 2016 Members Report Posted January 26, 2016 There are better answers on here, but the wise guy in me would want to ask how enslaving another sentient being for your personal and emotional pleasure is ethical? But I'm getting cranky about this things. Which makes it easier to turn someones argument to me against them these days. Of course, that would also depend on the tone I was getting from the question. A legit question usually gets a legit answer. Try to cause problems and you just might get more than you asked for. BTW, yes I'm a dog owner. But I'm not asking a potentially loaded question. And according to my distributor, their truck loads of hides come straight from the meat packing/slaughter houses. It's not a very pretty sight though. They just kind of dump them in the parking lot. lol Quote
