builderofstuff Report post Posted July 4, 2016 Hey folks, Ive been wanting to make some new wallets and I had a few questions. First does anyone know where I can get some different patterns for different styles? I know most folks just draw their own. But I'd like to make some bifold and trifold wallets. My other question is on leather thickness. What ounce leather do you all use for the main exterior and interiors? Do you buy the wallet inserts or make your own? Thanks, Chris
bikermutt07 Report post Posted July 4, 2016 Nigel at armitage leather has an eight pack of templates for 10 pounds with all sorts of pocket options. Look him up on YouTube. It includes some nice styles of wallets. Jlsleather has a few free wallets on his site plus lots of free holster downloads. If you are looking for acrylic templates, looking for wuta acrylic templates on Amazon. They run about 12-20 bucks. Hope this helps, have fun.
ConradPark Report post Posted July 4, 2016 There are already several threads about all kind of wallet making and free templates available on this forum. And there is a search function available. Do some work first and you'll probably see that most questions have already been asked and answered...
JLSleather Report post Posted July 4, 2016 I don't like thick wallets. I prefer a 3/4 "back" or outside, and generally line with about a 1 1/2 oz chrome tanned goat or kid. I make my own "innards" AND I buy them pre-fabbed. Particularly if I need one or two, it's nice to be able to 'throw an insert' in and ship it. If I need 10 or more, I'll likely make them here. The Chaylor inserts sold by SLC are decent quality. The ones they make down there, I don't care for (too thick and rigid). The Chaylors look a bit pricey, but calculate the time it would take you to make one and they don't seem so bad I need to get back on the horse with these, actually. "Back when", I'd make 20 or 30 of 'em just to have ready... all glued and stitched and ready to go. Lest I bore you to no end, here's a couple pics. I'd add a link ot the Chaylor inserts, but I see that web site is boogered at the moment! Here's a couple I sometimes 'do up'...

splinters Report post Posted July 4, 2016 After the fun of doing you vertical front pocket card wallet I've started thinking its time I add a "regular" wallet to the queue. Like the looks of these you've posted and especially the one in the lower left corner of the photo. Thanks for the info on the inserts since its the back I'm most interested in doing. Happy 4th of July!

builderofstuff Report post Posted July 4, 2016 I checked out Nigel's site and watched some of his videos. I think I'll get his pattern pack. I also checked out the other site that was listed above and I looked over the wallet patterns they had. They weren't quite what I was looking for though. Thanks for the replies, they have definitely helped. Chris
