Mark Peters Report post Posted July 4, 2016 Pretty pleased with myself this morning. Just scored a 54"x26"X 1 1/&" slab of granite for free. Someone had given it to them six months ago and they just wanted it out of the garage. Put it on my 48"x24" work table I built awhile back (4x4 legs, 2x4 frame and cross members with a 3/4" MDO top). i finally have something larger than a 12"x12" scrap to stamp on. Dwight Report post Posted July 24, 2016 I've got one of those pieces of marble too, . . . mine is going to become a shooting bench out at the 200 yd mark. May God bless, Dwight
Tugadude Report post Posted July 28, 2016 Very cool find. I'm sure you know you can have a fabricator cut it square all around if you feel the need, or chamfer the front edge and such. Not necessary, but might be worth doing.
Mark Peters Report post Posted July 28, 2016 But then it wouldn't be free! Actually, I did consider having it cleaned up for use as a bar top, but it was too short for where I would use it. It's in the basement, so its's likely to stay down there until I move.
bikermutt07 Report post Posted July 28, 2016 If you have a variable speed grinder you can clean up the edge. It will take a little money for materials. I'd be happy to walk you through the process. ( I work in granite)
