Leathahh Report post Posted July 19, 2016 I figured with my 1st post on here being for help, I should make a post including some of my past work. I'm still new to making dog collars. I find it really enjoyable and a good stress reliever on those tough days at work. I like to use swarovski crystals in almost everything I make- i'm not one for plain and simple collars. I have no idea how to price my collars out, bill for my time, etc.

JerseyFirefighter Report post Posted July 19, 2016 Beautiful work. I have a few hundred bucks in crystals and conchos and for the life of me absolutely hate setting spots. Your designs and work look great.
fks1 Report post Posted July 20, 2016 Nice work! Where are you buying your hardware from? Crystals, spots, rivets or studs?
BJP Report post Posted August 11, 2016 Where did you learn to design and how do you set the spots. I have no luck doing that. Any good hints where to get good prongs and good instruction!? I use textured rivets and domed rivets and conchos etc as well as hand painting ( just started) but have lots of spots I just have no clue how to make a great pattern and then set them nicely

You can put whatever spots rivets or conchos within that pattern you'd like.

I buy hardware from Dreamtime Creations mostly. They have rim-sets and flat back crystals. Other hardware- buckles & D-rings are from BuckleGuy On 8/11/2016 at 2:07 AM, BJP said: Where did you learn to design and how do you set the spots. I have no luck doing that. Sometimes I get the creative bug and I have to go make something, other times I avoid eye-contact with my work station for a few days . I know Rhinestone Guy has some heavy duty long prongs that work better for thicker leather, and they have a ton of information on their website as well describing different crystals, rim sets, sizing, etc. On 7/19/2016 at 4:10 PM, JerseyFirefighter said: Beautiful work. TeriYool Report post Posted September 6, 2016 Where did you learn? Can you suggest books or websites, etc. for learning about making dog collars? Your stuff looks great! I am not ready for crystals and rivets just yet..... still trying to get a feel for a sewing machine to perfect the simple stuff. TY

TY Paco Collars had a tutorial put out from their owner a while back. That's been a great help for me when I was starting.

There is also a number of youtube videos to watch if you search something along the lines of "making a leather dog collar". So much valuable information... but nothing trumps trial and error in my experience.

Petro49er Report post Posted January 7, 2017 I know this post is old, but your collars look great. Can I ask where you get those name plates? Thanks!
Reegesc Report post Posted January 22, 2017 I'm also interested in the brass name plates. Did you make those yourself using the etching method? Very cool looking plates.

Nameplates are made by Metal Mementos. She does AMAZING work. We have some pretty sick dog tags from her too
