Members torker32 Posted July 24, 2016 Members Report Posted July 24, 2016 Hello Neighbor, I would like to know if anyone is using an alternative glue pot container? The standard one from Tandy, and other suppliers i've seen used seems a little on the costly side. $30 - $42. The brush applicator in my Barge can busted off. Thinking on drilling hole in top cap and using JB to attach it back. A picture of your container would perhaps give me an alternative solution. thanks in advance. Quote
Members Matt S Posted July 24, 2016 Members Report Posted July 24, 2016 I use the standard Italian ones. Ultrasonicly welded, tough, work fine. £6, plus tax. Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted July 25, 2016 Contributing Member Report Posted July 25, 2016 I use that slightly pricey teflon thing. It does seem a bit much paying $40 for a metal cup But they're about indestructable. I've had at least one for ... a long time. Reminds me.. I got one I need to put back together IF I can find my glue gun. The down side of owning properties is that the wife sometimes thinks it's okay to "borrow" tools... Anyway... I'm a bit of a clean-freak. So every so often, I knock the top off the glue pots.. then hot glue 'em back on. Nice 'n' clean again. Now that I think about it.. might just be easier to replace it every so often! Quote "Observation is 9/10 of the law." glamb Posted December 8, 2016 Report Posted December 8, 2016 Buy plastic bottles on amazon with brush adjustable in lids $7.00 Quote
Jimmy McLaughlin Posted December 21, 2016 Report Posted December 21, 2016 I got the same one pictured above from Tandy. I put some Masters glue in it and it dried out. The brush is hard as a rock. As far as I am concerned, It is a waste of money. Jim Quote
Members cowboycolonel Posted December 21, 2016 Members Report Posted December 21, 2016 Buy a bottle of Gatorade. Drink the juice and re-use the bottle as a glue dispenser. Quote
Jimmy McLaughlin Posted December 27, 2016 Report Posted December 27, 2016 I use the Barge Cement and keep it in the can it came with. Thanks for the feedback cowboy colonel Quote
Members kncorey Posted July 13, 2017 Members Report Posted July 13, 2017 I've recently started using the glue pot I found at Busy Bee Tools. I ditched the wooden brush and use the smaller ones pictured below that I found at Canadian Tire. They are cheap enough to be disposable, but the glue pot does such a great job at keeping air out that the brush so far after two weeks is still great. Very happy with this set up. http://www.busybeetools.com/products/glue-container.html http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/pintar-utility-brushes-6-pk-0490670p.html#srp Quote
Members LumpenDoodle2 Posted July 13, 2017 Members Report Posted July 13, 2017 I've seen those glue pots, and wondered how good/bad they were. Tempted to buy one, but never got round to it yet.
