Gstone Report post Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) Hi all, I'm new to leather working and I've really enjoyed it. This is my first wallet and the third time I've carved this design. I know I've made a mistake sewing the entire bottom together making the interior bunch rather than making the interior shorter and leaving some space in the middle (I'm sure I've made more mistakes that I don't realize yet). The exterior is 4-5oz which I'm thinking might be too thick while the interior is 1.5-2oz pigskin. I'd love to get your thoughts on it, all helpful criticism and comments are much appreciated. Windrider30 Report post Posted August 9, 2016 Very nice and the bottom part is a "normal" mistake when making your first wallet did the same thing. As for 4 to 5 oz being to thick really depends on your taste. I personally prefer my wallet to be a bit thicker so I use 4 to 5 oz for the outside and 3 oz for the inside some times. There is no "right" or "wrong" thickness for a wallet.
Eddie Q Report post Posted August 9, 2016 Lovely work Miss Gstone !! My first and only billfold bundled up the same way. I have seen a couple of ways to prevent that but, I've been sticking to long wallets instead lol !!
Tugadude Report post Posted August 10, 2016 I think it is great! As far as suggestions, not criticism, maybe move the stitching line out closer to the edge. At least on the sides. The bottom is about perfect. Also, look at the bottom corners. The stitching curves yet the leather is square. Nothing wrong with that, but I prefer my stitching to match the profile of the leather. You already realize you can eliminate the bulge by making the outer piece 1/2" longer than the inner and not stitching all the way across. BTW, I think more pics should feature toes! Just kidding, but I couldn't help but notice.
