That is the way I orient mine ..it works.. :)

Put the felt pad back in if you have it ? pass the thread between the front of it and the clip ( that will stop it "flapping about" ) put a drop or 3 ( don't saturate it, despite what Singer say  ) of oil onto it right next to where the thread goes through 'twixt it and the clip..

Now turn the machine by hand , look for where ( if anywhere ) the thread appears to suddenly get a little furry like it went past a surface with a burr..

Ok ..off to stop the Satay from burning  :)

Mike, I fiddled with my 211G166 but the best I could get was about 5spi. I think the feed eccentric would need to be changed completely to get any better - and that's not a job I intend taking on! My 111WSV77 will give me 3 1/2 spi, even though the number wheel is only marked down to 5. Looking at 3 1/2 spi, however, with #138 thread, looks a bit "odd" to me and I don't think my '77 will handle heavier thread.

In your first photo posted the bobbin case/basket that holds the bobbin is not in proper position, it may be while your adjusting I don't know, but its wrong and should be major reset before running. Thought id mention on the way through.

If you take a look in Constabulary's pdf operators file 1 page, right side. Also it does not show the same or "case" latch in your file Mike.

So if this is during your adjustment disregard, sorry and good day.

Floyd

Ah..Now I see what you mean Floyd, yes the bobbin case is rotated CW by about a 1/10 of a turn too far the tab should be just behind the needle hole in the feed dog plate, and the "point" ( triangular part ) of the bobbin case should be approaching the "finger" from the right side of it, not past it to the left of it near the needle..good catch :)

btw..Floyd..When I realised what you meant, I turned around to check mine, and found I had about 12 inches of 92 thread caught up around mine that I hadn't noticed, it was just at the point of where it was getting caught between the case and the hook and would have caused a jam ( and I'd have had to unmount the case to clear it ) as it was , I was able to catch the end with tweezers and slowly pull it all out, wouldn't have seen that if you hadn't made me look..Thanks :)

My file shows a bunch of stuff that isn't on my machine, but the actual case and hook ( apart from the case and hook and bobbin may be the larger size on georgeandgracie's machine, haven't seen the bobbin yet to know, the larger ones have holes all around ) and thread guides , tension discs etc are the same as on the photos.

Just curious this morning why a machine dealer would sell a machine that is supposed to be a needle feed when it's actually a walking foot. Not even close to the same as a 211G157 needle feed. I've been under the weather, so somewhat absent, but sheesh.

@gottaknow Is it a compound feed? Sort of both walking and needle feed in one? It certainly is sewing flatter tool rolls than Fussbudget the Consew 206RB did. To be honest, I don't know how to tell one type of machine from another. For Iack of experience I just go by what people tell me!  :(  Eric, should I send it back? If I do, then what? The Singer 211G157 that you recommend is a very rare bird and I've got to have something!

If it's sewing good, keep it. It's certainly capable of what your doing. It is not a needle feed machine. Needle feed machines don't have the alternating presser feet. Overall, it's probably a better machine. When you get fussbudget back from me, it's certainly worth selling and it will be in good shape. It will make someone a decent machine. This could all end up better for you in the long run.  I do still think for your products I've seen, you could still benefit from a needle feed machine.

@gottaknowAre there other decent needle feed machines besides the near-mythical Singer 211G157?

If Fussbudget will be able to sew flat tool rolls when you get done with it, then I would rather have it back and sell Bonkers. Fussbudget isn't as noisy and it doesn't have habitual thread problems in the needle/bobbin area. (These I haven't yet gotten around to mentioning in this discussion.)

If I complain to Alberoni that this machine is NOT "the 211G157 except newer"  as they told me, I wonder what they will do ...

Hard to say what they'll do, but they could perhaps use someone who knows what they're talking about. I've said it before, but I don't have the patience to be a dealer. if I were, I'd hope not to be misinforming folks. I do that enough just as a head mechanic, but I do keep the factory humming along with little or no machine down time, and that's where I make my money.

Bonkers the 211U567B went completely off the deep end this afternoon. Backstitching is now creating epic snarls. The work will not pull out from the needle - it has to be torn from the machine. The bobbin acts weird. Even the servo I bought for it is unbelievably touchy. I hate this machine and am sorry I bought it.

Return it! Your machine will be heading back this coming week.

@gottaknow

I never thought that I would become so nostalgic for Fussbudget! Nor so glad to know it will be home soon, even if you don't get a chance to work on it. I just wish it hadn't become such a millstone around your neck, but who knew that life would get strange on you?

I have already sent Alberoni a message asking about returning the machine. Hopefully they will stand behind their merchandise. Maybe Bonkers is just a lemon.

Hi, I am totally new to this and have a 20U (a gift from a friend) and a 211U567B that I bought on ebay . I bought it as during moving house the movers DROPPED the 20U :( and as a result it the bottom broke! I took it to a specialist who was very pesimistic and called it a wright off!!!!

So after buying the 211 I am now repairing the 20U with "braces" and then back to the specialist (very nice guy) to to set the timing again.

On the 211 I found the manual for the 566 and the separate pages for the 567. Now I have a complete set after inserting the 567 pages into the 566 manual as indicated on the 567 pages.

Anybody a spare "Presser Bar Lifter" for the 567 partnr 508309?

I am running servomotors instead of the Original clutch motors (China made, very nice)

I have no source for the 508309 lever but I once have updated my Singer 111G156 with the 508309 lever of a Singer 211 so I think you can use the standard Singer 111 lever as well they are just shorter. I may have one of the shorter levers if it works for you.

So here I am again. I moved house (again ) and just before doing that I finished the repair on the 20U. The lever is installed and works (thank you again Constabulary) and both machines returned from the German specialist. He was quite amazed on the fix I managed on the 20U. Both machines running fine but for the 211 I need some more replacement parts to make it perfect. They are the bottom plates left and right of the pressure foot. One (partno:240004) is still usable but the right one (looking from the sewing direction) is badly misthreated in the past. Partno:240003 (Constabulary?). I would like to replace them both as it is quit a bit of work to remake them, although I will if necessary.

I don´t think I have the parts you need but check with College Sewing in the UK - they have a lot of 211 and 111 parts.

https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/store/240003-SLIDE-PLATE-RIGHT-INSIDE-111W

https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/store/240004-SLIDE-PLATE-LEFT-OUTSIDE-111W

Not all parts are shown in the parts section sometimes you have to search for the parts numbers

Singer 111 and 211 have a  lot of parts in common, like the feet and slide plates
