richco Report post Posted September 11, 2016 Hi to all, Here is my first project a bag for my daughter, this is made by veg tan 2 to 3 onz leather I dyed it with water base dye and hand stitched, as other senior member give me morel support to make my own patterns and I did it this bag looks good thanks all for the support and yes I am ok to listen your comments to improve myself. Well, water-based dyes will smear or run when the leather gets damp, so you need to find a water-resistant or water-proof solution. You certainly don't want that black dye all over your daughter's clothes! And that's where my knowledge ends! ;-) I don't have enough experience to help you choose a good sealing finish. I would recommend that you open up a thread in the appropriate part of this message board (probably the section about dyes or the one about finishing) and ask real experts about their experiences.
