Skiving machine Parts / Asscessories

Hey Everyone,

 

Would anyone know a place in Europe where i can order the stick for taking the birr off the inside of the bell knife on my skiving machine ? Ive been trying to order from Global in Holland and finding them extremely slow and unhelpful- 11 e-mails later still no order placed. 

Also, if there is somewhere in the USA you know of please let me know. I am very desperate to get my hands on one at this stage.  Picture included to clarify what I'm looking for.

Hey @gigi, i tried fratelliaberti- but i have to put in an oder for over a hundred euro just to get this one thing i need !

You can make one yourself.

Get a length of doweling from a DiY outlet [about 1.5 Euro]

Get some Wet & Dry paper from a car accessory shop or the DiY shop [about 0.75 E per sheet]

Glue the W&D paper around a piece of the dowel

Job done; and ready for you to de-burr the blade

I use 600 grade W&D to de-burr my cutting blades. 1200 or 2000 if I want a really polished edge.

Two alternatives are a pipe de-burrer which plumbers use after they've cut through copper pipe. A good hardware store will have that; they'll cost from about 10 E upwards, but they can be a bit coarse for the job

or a 'rat-tail' round file, costs about 3 E upwards for a quality one. I use one for sharpening my individual round and oval hole punches.

What he said.  This is nothing more than a stick with a piece of sandpaper glued to it.  For $10 you can make a lifetime supply.

I took a couple of photos at a local store today, the orange is the one you need (black one is the one for the grindstone), they are imported from Italy (sorry: I don't know for sure if made in Italy or the brand or about the quality). Those sell under 6 Euro (orange one is a bit cheaper). If you think it's okay I can send it (shipping it's about 5 Euro).

That is what is so good about this forum you get to learn something new every day. In the 30 + years I have been manufacturing and using these machines I have never heard before that the correct tool was sandpaper glued to a stick. I have only ever bought the stone in the stick type before as shown above and in the link I referred to. Thanks electrathon.

The round end of a high speed steel drill bit works just fine to roll the burr over.
