Members Constabulary Posted April 11, 2017 Members Report Posted April 11, 2017 Does someone have information about this Singer 132K SV 11? To me it looks like a 132K6 variant but with (I guess) on/off for the top feed mechnism. I at least have no other explanation for the "device" on the backside (note lever left of top feed mechanism). Members jimi Posted April 12, 2017 Members Report Posted April 12, 2017 Looks like some kind of extra foot?? or for a trimmer?? that is maybe why the needle plate is broken also?? are these needle plates the same size as the 45s?? Quote
Members patria Posted April 13, 2017 Members Report Posted April 13, 2017 Looks like beefy machine @Constabulary , do you have any experience on how thick 132k6 can handle? Needle / thread range ? I think i saw one on sale at local trading forum Quote
Members Constabulary Posted April 13, 2017 Author Members Report Posted April 13, 2017 Jimi, my first guess (or hope) was that it "could" be a needle feed but don´t believe it but who knows... The roller foot seems to be a modification I don´t think it it original to this machines (also a guess). I hope I can take a look at the machine around Pentecost. Haven´t though of a trimmer but that could explain the modified plates. New plates and feed dog are avail. from College Sewing. The plate indeed are the same size as for the 45K but I´m not sure if the cut out is the same. Patria, I have not sewn with a 132K6 but I think 8-10mm thickness should be possible. Members torrbuidhe Posted April 14, 2017 Members Report Posted April 14, 2017 (edited) I think its a fore runner of the 132k12, look at the parts chart for the 132k6, k10 & k12. There's also this old ebay listing, which is even handier with good pictures. www.ebay.ie/itm/SINGER-132K12-132K-12-INDUSTRIAL-TRMIMMING-STITCHING-SEWING-MACHINE-/121210750608 Neil Edited April 14, 2017 by torrbuidhe Quote
Members Constabulary Posted April 14, 2017 Author Members Report Posted April 14, 2017 (edited) Ha - you hit the Nail, Neil. I was not even thinking of the parts list as it looked too unusual to me . I even have an original parts book "132K6-132K10 and 132K12" So with other words too bad that this machine is no longer complete but maybe its possible to turn it "at least" into a 132K6 as it is quite similar but don´t know. Will see the machine at pentecost... Thnaks a lot for the hint, Neil!!! Members Constabulary Posted June 23, 2017 Author Members Report Posted June 23, 2017 (edited) Finally I have it here - it indeed is a forerunner or prototype (SV machine) of the later 132K12 or maybe it is a SV because it came with additional accessories that the standard 132K12 - who knows... As expected - the machine is not in its original configuration (no knife installed, different needle plate roller foot...) - thats too bad. The knife rod still works and the lever on the face plate side is for engaging the knife bar and the lever on the back is for disengaging the knife bar - JFTC someone is interested. Serial number dates it to 1948 Tension unit needs a new spring, I have to replace the feed dog. I alreday added a new needle plate. I think the right plate of a 45K can replace the original right side plate... So not much "basic work". Original paint and decals are in very good condition. So what can I do with it? Completing - I guess - it`s not possible since K12 parts are no longer available I guess and I have no use for a machine with trimming device (or do I? Naaaa...). My (rough) idea would be trying to turn it into a 132K6 - if it is possible at all. The mechanism on the backside looks pretty similar - so my question is can some one who owns a 132K6 help me with some picture of a 132K6 with removed faceplate so I can compare parts and their location (my parts list does not include an exploded drawing) It is just a very rough and maybe ambitious idea and I know I most likely have to rework the casting... Anyway - I have not paid very much for it and I would give it a try. So I´d really appreciate if some 132k6 owner could post a few good pictures of the mechanics of the backside and behind the face plate Edited June 23, 2017 by Constabulary Quote ~ Keep "OLD CAST IRON" alive - it´s worth it ~ Machines in use: - Singer 111G156 - Singer 307G2 - Singer 29K71 - Singer 212G141 - Singer 45D91 - Singer 132K6 - Singer 108W20 - Singer 51WSV2 - Singer 143W2
