  • I wasn't aware that W/C stocked "tooling calf", but I can't remember that I ever asked, either.
  • Not sure of the reason for the discoloration.
  • Presumably, "calf" is slightly smaller sides than "cow", so maybe that's a question to ask.
  • On the other hand, it's $95 -- so maybe worth getting just one or two to see it for yourself.

could have more scrap out of that side than usually..
grade is a subject to suspect - those resellers buy in bulk, and the best quality that you can get directly from tannery.

but you can try of course.

i did buy recently WC eng bridle black for 95 bucks - awaiting for delivery.

Talked with a guy at maverick. He said he wouldn't recommend it for s holster due to durability and also said it doesn't tool as well as cow. The calf side average 18sq ft. So I just ordered from Roger at rjfleather. Just thought the ones that are following this would like to know.

So... Thought I'd go ahead and give it go on the calf and post pics so each can decide for themselves. Labeled as 7/8 oz but more like 3/5. Also has a little pink tint to it.

It's a LONG way from 7/8 to 3/5. Did you gauge it? You can split 7/8 down to 3/5, but it's not easy to go the other way if that's what you were needing!

So much leather...so little time.
