Jetdoctorbox Report post Posted June 6, 2017 Just signed up a few hours ago and wanted to say hello to everyone here at "Leather Worker". I moved to central Florida almost 11 years ago from New Orleans after Katrina ran me out of there. I'm now retired from a couple of major airlines where a I worked as an aircraft technician for the past 40 years. After retiring a little over a year ago, I somehow stumbled into leather crafting. Since I worked with my hands all of my life, working with leather was a natural fit and I simply fell in love with it. Slowly but surely I'm finding my way around the this site,so I apologize in advance for any posts in the wrong place, pics that don't show up, or any other noobie mistakes. Regards to all and I look forward to all future interactions.

TonyRV2 Report post Posted June 7, 2017 Welcome aboard Jet...I'm about 20 miles east of Gainesville on Little Orange Lake near Hawthorne. I make knives here and do my leather crafting at my place in West Branch, MI. Since I do the snowbird thing I wondered what I might do when I was away from my knife shop, and making sheaths came to mind. That's how I started doing leather. I retired from teaching college electronics about a month ago so I'm looking forward to my new avocation. I imagine as an avionics tech, you dabbled in a little electronics yourself. Thank you for the warm welcome! Yes, I have to say I've spent countless hours chasing down a circuit or two on aircraft schematics. Years ago I acquired my General Radiotelephone License from the FCC. When I worked for Northwest Airlines it was required back then in order to do avionics work. I used to spend weeks at a time in Romulus at the Detroit airport going to school for the airline. I got started about a year ago doing leather work by walking into a Tandy leather shop and asking how I would go about making a holster. I've been hooked ever since!
