Sharon Mallory Report post Posted June 7, 2017 Hi I'm having trouble stitching on my cobra for the top of my strap I sold yesterday looks perfect he gave no indication of a problem and later I flipped it over and I saw a big long loop that got tangled up and then it stitched over which I had to cut and not. This is not the first time this is happened to me and I was wondering if anyone knows what the cause may be? How do I upload a picture it says 1.46 mb and won't let me
mikesc Report post Posted June 7, 2017 (edited) How to post a picture depends on what system you have?..if windows? download and run irfanview ( freeware with no spyware/ malware )..then choose your image "open file" the ..choose "image" "resize" set the dimensions at 800x600 pixels and save as jpeg..then upload here BTW..what happens when thread tangles , or you have to "tie it off"..etc is a "knot"..with a "k" ..when "whatever" doesn't do what you want .."it is not ( no letter k ) doing"..else it gets hard to understand.. OLDNSLOW Report post Posted June 7, 2017 I kind of struggled with the French he was speaken up above, but my question is, did you do any back stitching in that location? It seems to me that when I did my back stitching that would happen with my machine, I think I had to make some adjustments to the thread tension to correct the problem. I am certain that others will chime in, but think what you might have done when you sewed that item in comparison to others you have done.
Northmount Report post Posted June 8, 2017 Did you make a turn during the stitching or lift the foot? If you make a turn while the loop is forming or lift the foot too high and release the top tension, strange things happen on the backside. If the loop happened at a point like this, it could be part of your problem. Tom

RockyAussie Report post Posted June 8, 2017 If the rest of the stitching looks good and the tensions look good (knots in the middle) I would think that you could have hit a hard patch and the foot pressure was not enough to keep the job down. If it jumps a bit occasionally I'd say foot pressure as that will allow more thread to pull through and then have no where to go.
Sharon Mallory Report post Posted June 11, 2017 Thank you all so much. I was just sewing a 48" strap for a bag. No slowing, turning, back stitching or stopping. It looked fine and I didn't realize it was messed up until I was done. Thank you I think I got the picture resized, whew, you can see the back where it messed up and the front where it gave no indication of failure, and also my finished bag. This has happened to me before and also on my flat bed so I need to figure out what I'm doing. Sharon
RockyAussie Report post Posted June 11, 2017 I would have a very careful check of how your bobbin is being wound on. If you are not careful with the thread tail from when you start can cause a interruption later as it feeds off or just simply it is not winding on nice and evenly. Your 1st picture shows a tightening to the bottom before the loop and that means that something had to make it pull tight for a little while so bad bobbin wind is most likely. I have had to load a new bobbin and pull it through the case in place to realise how much tension variation can happen when a bobbin is wound badly.
