andrewsejlv Report post Posted June 22, 2017 (edited) Here are two small pieces I threw together over the last few days, while working on the CAD for a few new designs. The first is another field notes cover. I know I might have an obsession for these little notebooks, but they're handy to have around when inspiration strikes, and they give me a way to always have an example of my leather-work. It was also my first time using edge paint: I had some issues with the edge paint spilling over onto the front/back faces (I was applying it with q-tips for this first run). I do like how they came out though, so I'll be looking for some info on how to properly apply edge paint to keep the faces clean. The second is the round pouch. Not particularly practical, but I wanted to make something different, and it turns out to be a nice little pouch for my zippo. Tugadude Report post Posted June 22, 2017 Looks great. For edge paints such as Edge Kote, I prefer a hard material. The metal spatula Tandy sells is great as is the edge roller. I often use popsickle sticks, coffee stirrers, etc. Once you develop the knack, you will rarely slop over the edge. Just takes a little practice like most skills. Nigel Armitage did a video recently where he used a Bic pen cap. One of his students was using one and he found it to work pretty good. BTW, are those logos accomplished with a laser? bikermutt07 Report post Posted June 22, 2017 Your round pouch looks like a great idea for earbuds. And your edge coat is looking pretty good. Question about the laser. Is it a higher end model or one of the 400.00 dollar ones from Amazon?
Tugadude Report post Posted June 23, 2017 I agree that the pouch would be good for earbuds, coins, etc.
Stetson912 Report post Posted June 23, 2017 For applying edge dye, try a sharpened pencil. It's nearly the same shape as those expensive conical applicators and works the same or better.

And yeah, the logos were achieved with the laser. 14 hours ago, bikermutt07 said: Your round pouch looks like a great idea for earbuds. And your edge coat is looking pretty good. Stetson912 Report post Posted July 3, 2017 @Dangerous Beans, how is the badger poking going? Does that require a special spoon? I love your videos. Very informative, thanks for the time you put into them. Much appreciated.
Sceaden Report post Posted July 3, 2017 Hmm, does this mean the legendary @Dangerous Beans does in fact lurk in the shadows of this forum?
Stetson912 Report post Posted July 3, 2017 @Sceaden he's probably has a lot of practice lurking... With the flicking peanuts at old ladies and badger poking.... Gotta be sneaky!
