garypl Posted July 15, 2017 Report Posted July 15, 2017 I was surprised to learn the leather was so thick - what did you do to make it supple enough to bend and easily fold over to close the journal? Quote

That's the weird thing. I didn't do anything to make it bend easier. Not too long ago I got a single shoulder that was 8 oz and I tried to make a journal out of it but even though I sanded it down a good bit it would not fold without major buckling. This print I got is about the same thickness but it is far more flexible so I didn't have to do any sanding and there is very little buckling when folded. I think it may have something to do with it being tooled. What do you think? Quote
Members battlemunky Posted July 15, 2017 Members Report Posted July 15, 2017 Looks great man! I think those milled croc prints are a softer temper due to the milling. I could be wrong. Quote
Members Rolandranch Posted July 15, 2017 Author Members Report Posted July 15, 2017 I think you're right, battlemunky. And thanks! Quote

I bought it at Tandy and I believe at the time that all the embossed pieces were pretty stiff. I'll look through the pile the next time I go there to see if any of the embossed pieces are less stiff. I'll have to try adding a bit of NF oil to the piece I have to see how much I can soften it up. Quote

Someone will no doubt come across this post and have an answer. Quote
