Best way to get started is to just dive in! Do some reading and research (on here, books, youtube (see links barehandcustoms shared), leather shops like Tandy or others) and then just start. I sat around an fussed about not having the right tools or not knowing exactly how to do something for a long time, but leather working is a craft, an art, a manual skill that must be developed over time.... The time will go by anyways, so you might as well use it to practice!

Hello Friend! Dive here, there is beaucoup to learn.

If you can try to explain your tastes to work interests, carving, sewing, hand sewing, chrome leather, veg etc ... you could perhaps save yourself learning something you do not wanna to use.

I'm in the same boat!  I need something to get my head away from my daily grind.  Hopefully I'll get some nice looking stuff out of it as well, and maybe even a marketable skill way on down the road.  In the meantime it's great mental therapy!

Someone referred the Ian Atkinson videos above -- those are great places to learn the basic craft.
Once you get started on stitching, watch everything on Youtube by Nigel Armitage over in the UK, for information on expert saddle stitching.
Like this one, for example (but realize also that he has many other videos on Youtube and his main website): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGuiha5S2oE

Try Looking at English antiques shops online for old wooden lasts and the metal ones as well. they make the foot form you need to start with. there are also some metal leather tools that stretch the leather and also act as a small hammer. also old books

Having been in Nigeria I doubt there are many tools available there

To buy on the internet in England I would think that you would have to get someone living in the UK to buy them for you and send them on as Nigeria has as you are probably aware such notoriety for fraud that I doubt any UK company will supply direct to Nigeria

YouTube.com will have many video's of how to make shoes and boots

Hope this helps
