Members 9tpi Posted October 25, 2017 Members Report Posted October 25, 2017 Hello everyone ***re-posting this as i lost my pictures in the Photobucket ransom*** Here is a recent woman's bag I made using tumbled Horween Essex. The leather is about 6/7oz and slightly spongy. Its sewn at 6 spi (7 tpi) with fil au chinois linen thread; size 432 Fully lined with interior pocket. Thanks for looking Quote
Members Dunluce Posted October 25, 2017 Members Report Posted October 25, 2017 Love the look of this. There are many posts here about tooled leather and while I can appreciate the craft involved, it is well made items like this that make me think 'I would like to be able to do that '. One question; you say you used 6/7oz leather. What do you do for your piping at the seams? Is it the same leather or has it been skived down? Quote
garypl Posted October 25, 2017 Report Posted October 25, 2017 That bag looks really nice and clean - great job! Quote

The piping has been skived down to roughly 3oz. I don't have a splitter so I, unfortunately, have to do it by hand. It takes a while and a sharp knife, with lots of stropping, but its worth the effort in my opinion. 16 hours ago, garypl said: That bag looks really nice and clean - great job!
