Here are a pair of Armitas that I just finished up. They are step in, with a traditional tie string. The only Hardware on them is the brass ring on the side.

Ashley,

Very cool. I like them. Nice clean work, and like the rolled buttons.

So, is there a difference between Armitas and Chinks?

From what I read the original Armitas had no hardware. They are lighter than chinks or chaps. Armitas means "little armor".

Nice work! I just picked up an Western Horseman yesterday and for the first time saw and heard about Armitas. It's nice to learn something new. I like them. Are they easier or harder to make than chinks? Are there any patterns out there for them? I'd like to make a pair.

Art,

I think they are about the same work as making a pair of chinks. I dont know of any patterns I just looked at different pictures and going from that an my knowledge of making chaps and chinks I just set out and made a pair. I am not sure if they are right or not. However I am satisfied with how they turned out.

Thanks Ashley. I'll have to give it a try.
