bikermutt07 Posted December 1, 2017 Report Posted December 1, 2017 Well after taking six months off from my hobby I have finally made something. They aren't much to "show off" though. These are simple coin purses from a Wuta pattern. Very simple construction and quick to bang out. The burgundy ones are 4-5 horween horse butts and the brown ones are 2-3 horse fronts. I got both from Maverick. Hardware was Tandy clearance. I did these for a church craft fair. They should last forever. I'm thinking ten bucks is reasonable. What do y'all think? Anywho, enjoy. Quote I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with. Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day. From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Members Sam I Am Posted December 1, 2017 Members Report Posted December 1, 2017 (edited) Considering they're genuine handmade, and as you said they'll last forever - eight to ten bucks is a good price. I don't know how prices are down south, but in PA I would say eight bucks for plain (the way you have them) and then if you stamp the flap with something (nothing fancy, just a 3D or gem rivets or something) then ten. Cool idea though. Sam Edited December 1, 2017 by Sam I Am Quote
bikermutt07 Posted December 1, 2017 Author Report Posted December 1, 2017 Sounds good. I think that if they don't sell for ten, I'll let the ladies at church but them for 5. They will buy them for sure. Quote I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with. Members KingsCountyLeather Posted December 1, 2017 Members Report Posted December 1, 2017 Looking good! You shouldn’t leave it so long to work at your leather... Someone once said... “ Stitching is like Gravy, it’s only great if you make it every day” Keep up the good work! Ger. Quote

I made a bad purchase on a Maker's Mark stamp. And then the guy wouldn't make it right. Then I had a wallet go to poop. And then, I was slammed for the summer with some super labor intensive stuff. It just kept me wore out. Just a lot of things wore my inspiration down for a bit. Quote I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. Members Instinctive Posted December 1, 2017 Members Report Posted December 1, 2017 I have been looking at that Wuta pattern and my questions just got answered. Normally I do my own patterns but no need to reinvent the wheel... Very nice work too. I particularly noted the corner rounding of the flap. Difficult to do by hand (at least for me). I did make a simple belt during the holiday. Just a single layer of 7-8 oz. Nothing to write home about. It had a few issues. Quote I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather.
