Jason046 Report post Posted December 23, 2017 I am thinking about getting a sewing machine to help speed up our work. For the most part we are sewing 10 oz. Leather to 8 oz. Leather. I like the way the thick wax thread looks just takes too long. Was looking at getting a cowboy 3200. RockyAussie Report post Posted December 23, 2017 Ditto as Gary said. Just be sure if your thinking about the 3200 that, has it the foot lift you want for the product you may want to make? A 4500 is a bit more $ but has a lot more thickness height if you need it. Holsters and pouches can get awfully thick at times and sometimes that is the way you want it. It will take a bit of practice to learn how to make the machine stop and start just in the right point on your turns and on that point I'd say to put in some pin hole marks where you want the needle to go first and consider opening up a slot in your front foot as well cos that'll make it easier to see. strathmoredesigns Report post Posted January 4, 2018 (edited) When they chime in, the sewing machine pros are going to ask you about the weight of what you're planning to do. Based on the pictures, I'm guessing it's going to be on the heavier side, but if you can share a specific range that'll help them give you a better recommendation sooner. As for the Tippmans, I've poked around with it a tiny bit at Tandy and while it seemed to work well, I would just never want to have to pull the leaver for each stitch. It was going to spend over a grand on a machine, I'd want something that did all of the work of the stitch. With a good machine and a servo motor you should be able to take the stitches pretty slowly. Just my two cents.... The sewing machine company I went to had a machine with a servo motor that they were going to install a speed reducer on for us and let us try out. The servo motor was not slow enough for us to make all the turns precise enough. I was hoping for a cowboy 3500 but they don' sale that brand.
