Wouldn't it be a bear to clean out the glass?

There could be many ways to do it. Elastic and leather, Snaps and leather, Lace etc......  Just depends on your look you are going for...

I am wraping the leather on the outside of said jar or wanting to at any rate, and hmm making a removable jacket of sorts might be an interesting idea!!

Storage...something along this line https://www.ballmason.com.au/cases-of-jars/wide-mouth-jars/4-x-ball-collection-elite-blue-jars-wide-mouth-pint

once I figure out how to wrap the jars I will share what my crazy and stupid idea business wise is lol

Honestly I was going to say glue until I realized that you are fishing for a solution to a problem you won't share so you can profit from it.

I made mine almost 4 years ago and i use it everyday for both hot and cold drinks, I measured the circumference of the mason jar and overlapped by about a half inch. I used 3 plan old rivets to hold it together and attached the handle the same way. I have had no issues at all with the jar slipping out. This pic was taken just after I made it. It has darkened in the most amazing way. Love my mug holder

Ok, so for consumption then. I would make a ¼ or ½ lid with snaps across part of the top of the sleeve. And then of course a bottom and possibly a handle.

Depends entirely on what you mean by

so the leather actually stays in place

vertically or rotationally.. or both..multiple solutions, all of them easy, each solution takes less than 30 seconds to do ..if you make the leather "wrap" ( making the "leather wrap" is not included in the 30 seconds solutions )carefully.

Horizontal thinking of a handle as well handle is the easy part

Ok..so that depends on what you mean by "handle"..what form do you want it ( the handle ) to take..and do you want it to be made from leather, and ( if you do ? ) do you want it to be made from the same piece as the wrap..and with or without sewing..and what thickness of leather to use for each part of the "assembly".

Btw..a comma or two in that sentence, would aid one in making sense of it.:)

I'm thinking , if you could get some "product placement" on  NCIS..

Maybe send a personalized "tooled "version to Mark Harmon.

You could use the mason jar ( in leather holder ) as a shaving soap mug ( if that is what you call it, the mug that you work up the soap foam in )...you could make a leather holder for the brush and the knife..I can see it now..leather shaving set..with Cusson's Imperial Leather soap ( when I was a kid that was a brand, maybe still is..I wouldn't know, I have a beard )..but the idea of a shaving set is good..in a leather shaving bag..

I can see it now..we're gonna be rich..I can see the yacht..right next to Larry's.

With a quart jar you could make the whole travel kit. Toothbrush and all.

Great responses everyone a huge help. I had originally thought to use glue but I thought that A: that would look bad B: figured it would be hard to get glue to stick to the glass. Kiwican thanks perfect for what i want. Now as for the businesses idea pretty simple and an excuse to use my leather scraps is a simple businessof selling Australia air...yep thats right moonshine air with a bit of leather craft selling it more as a novelty item

Hose clamps!  Honestly go try some things and then come back here and you tell us. You are not wasting time or leather as long as you learn something.

I prefer to ask questions of people that have done something that I have not before I jump into ANY projects why reinvent the wheel?

No. The jar stays in tight. I have to pull it from the sleeve when I want to clean it. When I first made it. I had to work the jar in. Over time it stretched out a little. But at no time have I ever been concerned that the jar would slip out. I used sno seal on the inside of the sleeve to protect against moisture getting into the leather which is something you may want to consider also
