Members SmithS Posted September 25, 2019 Members Report Posted September 25, 2019 Sorry to all who are following this but I’m doing my best to try to send some pictures of this beautiful saddle. I am amazed at the style and amount of carving on this saddle. It must have taken a long time and the craftsmanship is unbelievable! The entire saddle except where one sits in the seat is carved. I always thought it should be in a saddle museum somewhere. Your great-grandfather or whoever did the leather work was something else BNEWTONP!!! Thank you!!! Quote
Members SmithS Posted September 25, 2019 Members Report Posted September 25, 2019 One last picture. If anyone knows the approximate value please contact me. Thank you to everyone interested in this saddle. Sharon Smith Quote

Members BNEWTONP Posted October 12, 2019 Members Report Posted October 12, 2019 Hello SmithS: The early 500's serial number is very early. Probably mid to late 1920's. The build cards I have begin about 5-years after your saddle was built. I will look through Porter Catalog No. 15, to see what I might come up with. Best regards, BNP Quote

Members Bristol Posted March 7, 2020 Members Report Posted March 7, 2020 Bnewtonp, I have a beautiful old Porter saddle in excellent original condition. The number is 1661. I was wondering if you could date the saddle for me, either approximately or specifically if you have that production card. Thank you in advance for any information you can shed on this fine work of leather art. John Peterson Bristol, TN Quote
