Just wondering - I know there are some people on this board that do.

I recently bought a round knife, but the handle is too long for my lady's hand. Would like some help in cutting it to the proper length!

You should be able to cut it down yourself with wood saw of anytype and round/sound the end to fit your palm. I followed these directions from a Stohlman book and it worked just fine. No special tools needed.

Plinkercases, yeah, that's exactly the book I looked at too, and the diagram that made me realize the handle was too long for me.  I guess I just lack the confidence to do it...  There's no tang or anything I have to worry about, is there?

If I was doing this for myself, I'd cut 3/4" or a bit less off and round it off until it was comfortable.  See how it fits then.  If it needs to be shorter, then trim a little bit off the end and round it off again.

Aven has a good idea there... if you go 3/4 and still need a little more then working it down slowly on a belt sander clamped in a vice would be better than trying to cut a 1/4 off with a saw.

Looking forward to seeing your first tool "mod"!

If you want to know where the tang ends, you could drill some tiny holes in the handle, starting from the end of the handle area progressing towards the blade until you hit metal. I think you'd be safe with that 3/4" to 1" we're talking about. Don't quote me on that, of course!
