Members CapnCohen Posted October 30, 2018 Members Report Posted October 30, 2018 Needed something historically accurate to hold my cutlass and saw one online for $120 that had unfinished edges. So I thought, “Why don’t I just make a better one for a fraction of the cost?” Quote
Members DJole Posted October 30, 2018 Members Report Posted October 30, 2018 Nicely done! And with better edges, too! Are you part of a re-enactment group which cares about historical accuracy? Quote \D. Jole \ --> <http://djole.altervista.org/djole/Publications/Leather/Lindex.htm>
bikermutt07 Posted October 30, 2018 Report Posted October 30, 2018 Love it. Quote I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with. Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day. From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.

I'm not part of any re-enactment group, although I think it would be fun and challenging to make something for someone who does that or a stage/video/film actor. I made a fusion sort of back quiver that has a Chinese dragon (I believe samurai quivers were primarily wood). Maybe good for Matt Damon's character in "The Great Wall"? And, yes, I use it regularly to shoot with my recurve. Edited October 30, 2018 by CapnCohen Quote
Members DJole Posted October 30, 2018 Members Report Posted October 30, 2018 (edited) Hey, that's a very nice looking dragon! That tooling is sharp. (And the quilt in the background caught my eye, too... you have a quilter in the family? Quilters and leatherworkers have many similarities.) Edited October 30, 2018 by DJole Quote \D.
