I have a few hides, but haven't made anything out of it yet because of that. YinTx
justingschneider Report post Posted November 9, 2018 it is very tough. my friend was really loving the caiman tail so i made it. i also read that it can crack. i strategically placed the fold of the wallet on the gap between the scales. time will tell what will happen to it. i backed it with a piece of leather so hopefully that will reinforce it. real pain to sew tho. i was not happy with the stitching on the caiman side of the wallet. very rough looking from the bumpy surface the stitches lay across. he was happy and i guess that is all that matters. YinTx Report post Posted November 10, 2018 Now that you mention it, I can see the stitching following the contours, looks challenging. Stitching might be perfectly straight, but the contours would make it look otherwise. I'd be interested to see how it wears long term. That is a cool color though... what is it called? Chief Filipino Report post Posted November 11, 2018 Nice! What did you do for your edges? I'm trying to find an alternative to edge painting leathers that don't burnish well.

Thanks! Is it shiny? From the pictures it doesn't look that reflective. I have some Fiebing's edge coat but don't like how reflective it looks.
