@rvacindy.  It doesn't look like Rustyj58 has been on the forum since 2019.  You might try "The Art of Making Leather Cases Vol. 1" by Al Stohlman.  Tandy sells it.  Others probably do too.  He has one in there called a travelling secretary that is similar.  The real value is that it gives you ideas and fundamentals.  You'll be making and modifying your own patterns before long.  The patten for that one shouldn't be difficult once you have the measurements of the composition book(maybe there is a standard size?) and the features you want inside.  https://tandyleather.com/products/the-art-of-making-leather-cases?variant=31977098772611  JM2C, Jim

Here is a couple pictures of one I did for a JRCA fundraiser that fits a steno pad.  Yeah, I know my work isn't "top shelf".  My photography isn't much either.
