Members Chick41 Posted November 30, 2018 Members Report Posted November 30, 2018 I have a small leather shop in Nova Scotia Canada. I make archery quivers and armguards, belts, holsters etc. I'm looking for a used sewing machine that will sew a few layers of 8-9 oz veg tan. It needs a walking foot or needle feed. Biggest issue is shipping, so it needs to be local or the seller needs to be able to ship.
Members Dwight Posted November 30, 2018 Members Report Posted November 30, 2018 Chick, . . . do yourself a favor, . . . buy a Tippmann Boss. They can mail the darn thing, . . . it doesn't need electricity, . . . and will sew up to 3/4 of an inch of dry leather. They are in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. https://tippmannindustrial.com/tippmann-boss-leather-sewing-machine/ I've had mine over 10 years now, . . . don't know how I'd do leather work without it. May God bless, Dwight If you can breathe, . . . thank God. If you can read, . . . thank a teacher. If you are reading this in English, . . . thank a veteran. www.dwightsgunleather.com

kgg Posted December 1, 2018 Report Posted December 1, 2018 Have you contacted Bridgewater Sewing Centre ( http://www.bridgewatersewingcentre.com/ ) they may be able to help with a new or used machine. I think they would only be about 1 1/2 hours from Wolfville. With them being so close you could take a couple of pieces and compare a flatbed too a cylinder bed and see what works best for your stuff. kgg Juki DNU - 1541S, Juki DU - 1181N, Singer 29K - 71(1949), Chinese Patcher (Tinkers Delight), Warlock TSC-441, Techsew 2750 Pro, Consew DCS-S4 Skiver

Members Chamod Posted January 13, 2019 Members Report Posted January 13, 2019 (edited) Hi..!! I'm Chamod from Sri Lanka. I just saw your post. I have a Singer post bed machine with original table, motor and it is in good working condition. It is a machine with walking foot and it has a cutting blade that can be used if necessary. To use the cutting blade, turn the lever under the Singer symbol to left and turn to the right if it is not necessary. Its model number is Singer 138B8BM and it is made in Japan. Although it is a second hand machine, it is in brand new condition as it used only a few time period. My price for the machine is about 1400 canadian dollars. I also have 2 singer cylinder bed machines with roller foot. Model number - singer 17U242.. Head only. And it need some repair. If you want to see the images of those machines I can upload them. God bless you...!!! Edited January 13, 2019 by Chamod
