Members Tugadude Posted January 12, 2019 Members Report Posted January 12, 2019 Very nice, but it seems to me the holes are a bit big in relation to the thread. If using an awl, maybe size down to a narrower blade. The slits should nearly disappear after stitching and tapping with a smooth-faced hammer. Love the colors. Quote

I used KS Blade pricking irons. I used .6 thread and I probably should have used .8 or maybe even size 1 although I have a suspicion #1 would have been to thick. And you caught me - I did not roll or hammer the stitching when I finished. Looking at the backside of your stitching, I don't think your thread is too thin. Possible one leather has a different temper than the other, and results in the tension showing differently on each side. Front side looks fine, maybe less tension on the front would help keep the holes from appearing oversized. Members VYO Posted January 13, 2019 Author Members Report Posted January 13, 2019 @YinTx Thanks! I have another in the works using the same materials with a different internal configuration so I'll lighten up on pulling the thread through the top side and see if that helps with the holes.
