Smartee Report post Posted June 18, 2019 Love the coaster Rossr! Thank you! I didn't do nearly the work to mine that you did - hope my recipient doesn't feel slighted. I'll be posting mine out to HaloJones in the next couple days (when I can get out to the post office). It's the first time I've ever attempted to carve so with that in mind - I'm happy with how it turned out. Looking forward to everyone sharing what to do to better/further my skills Also looking forward to the next swap!

I am very pleased. Well done & THANK YOU! Glad you liked it. Couldn't decide which to send, so you got both. Third one I did got ruled out. For the bear I was going for a gritty, rough look, with a lot of texture. For the ram, I tried for simple, minimal tool marks, flowing lines. I hemmed and hawed a bit on using a shader for the petals/leaves/sticker burrs, whatever you like to call them, and opted not to. Wreckerative cuts were probably a bit timid and could be much bolder. Open to suggestions on both, both were new techniques for me. On 6/18/2019 at 3:01 PM, Smartee said: Nice YinTx! They look like belt buckles! Thank you. Just the shape of a clicker die I had, and I thought it would make a unique coaster - not square, not round. On 6/18/2019 at 3:09 PM, fredk said: N I C E Thanks! Cool color combinations, challenging knot pattern, and braided with a liner to boot. Here it is in it's glory: and here it is hard at work protecting my morning cup-of-joe: Thank you so much, and sorry it took me so long to get the photos posted! Rockoboy Report post Posted July 3, 2019 Still waiting for the "slowest-postal-service-in-the-world" to deliver mine! Any ideas on what we are getting into for the next project? Or do we do more of the same, because we all learnt something from our 1st efforts?
