Members Kolton45 Posted March 28, 2020 Members Report Posted March 28, 2020 So I just finished a new wallet pattern and wanted to keep it just natural beg tan and let it patina over time but I'm not sure if i should simply just keep it 100%natural or if i should oil it lightly first Quote
Members Rhale Posted March 28, 2020 Members Report Posted March 28, 2020 Looks nice the way it is but I would have to lightly oil! That’s just me Quote

Members Rhale Posted March 28, 2020 Members Report Posted March 28, 2020 I would use a light coat of olive oil, then let dry overnight prior to using. That should very slightly darken and give a good patina! Quote
CFM Frodo Posted March 31, 2020 CFM Report Posted March 31, 2020 minwax neutral, it is a wood stain. Quote
Members chrisash Posted March 31, 2020 Members Report Posted March 31, 2020 Effax leather balm gives a nice finish and only very slight deeping of the colour Quote
Members johnv474 Posted April 3, 2020 Members Report Posted April 3, 2020 I would suggest a coating of some sort because otherwise your plain veg tan is loke leaving bare wood out in nature--it will patina quickly but also deteriorate quickly. I would suggest at a minimum some Lexol conditioner (two light coats won't change color once absorbed) and then a coat of some kind of wax-containing product, like beeswax or clear shoe polish. Quote
