Guardian Article On Goat Leather Micro Tannery

Recommended Posts

Very good article, and there is definitely the market for the skins.   I sometimes nip into Hewitt (the bookbinder and material supplier based in Scotland), and the boss himself was telling me that they have their goatskins imported, because there just wasn’t anyone locally tanning them.

With the popularity of goat in Africa, I am surprised there is no export market to Africa

Find the whole idea of killing the young animals just for tender meat rather repugnant and killing newborn disgusting

My go to leather shop has small size skin bin which I love to delve into, could be goat, calf or sheepskin size. All different colours and reasonably priced.
