PAMuzzle Report post Posted May 23, 2020 Was told by a leather worker friend of mine to make the inner liner on a western gun belt rough side out so that it will not slip when worn? All that I have seen has been grain side out. Any comments for or against this theory?
dikman Report post Posted May 23, 2020 Smooth (grain) side out generally has a nicer, finished look about it but some do use rough-side-out for the very reason you mentioned (to try and improve the belt's grip). Whether it makes a huge difference I don't know (I've done both) as over time the rough side will slowly wear smoother anyway.
AzShooter Report post Posted May 23, 2020 Line with suede and you will have a non slip belt. It will also look very nice.
