Members PAMuzzle Posted May 23, 2020 Members Report Posted May 23, 2020 Was told by a leather worker friend of mine to make the inner liner on a western gun belt rough side out so that it will not slip when worn? All that I have seen has been grain side out. Any comments for or against this theory? Quote
Members dikman Posted May 23, 2020 Members Report Posted May 23, 2020 Smooth (grain) side out generally has a nicer, finished look about it but some do use rough-side-out for the very reason you mentioned (to try and improve the belt's grip). Whether it makes a huge difference I don't know (I've done both) as over time the rough side will slowly wear smoother anyway. Quote
