how do i finish edges

HI,  I have some ostrich that i need to finish the edges on.  I have never attempted  working with leather so thin

I am at a loss.  any suggestions.

here is what the leather looks like

If possible, I make a wooden jig that holds the leather with just the edge up so I can burnish it without it being flimsy. 

If you have a stitching pony you could put it in there with just the edge up and do the same thing. 

Another thing I have done is....... if you have a burnished that will go into a drill press you can pull the leather tight and burnish it there. Pulling it tight will help to keep it straight. 

 

Others may have better ideas also.

How's it tanned? It may not even burnish due to tannage. Looks like it may be chrome with the white edges.

seems the body leather is veg tanned,  or rather it is burnishing with tokonole

but the leather from the leg is chrome tanned.I think I can dye that edge
