Members ogopogo Posted June 26, 2021 Members Report Posted June 26, 2021 Hi guys and girls, I am fairly new and am having a problem with glue, I researched and settled on Lepages heavy duty contact cement. I bought a pint and poured some into my glue jar ( home made with a brush sealed thru lid ) after a few days the glue separated with a layer of thin liquid on top, tried mixing it with little success. I believe the top and brush are air tight. I tried a small test but it does'nt seem to hold much. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Terry Quote
Members mike02130 Posted June 27, 2021 Members Report Posted June 27, 2021 I once used a clear jar for Weldwood contact cement and had a similar problem. Now I use a brown jar and no problem. I figured it doesn't do well with light. Quote
Members Dwight Posted June 27, 2021 Members Report Posted June 27, 2021 NEVER had that kind of problem with weldwood May God bless, Dwight Quote

Members Rahere Posted June 29, 2021 Members Report Posted June 29, 2021 Separation in light suggests bacterial degradation. Try ensuring your bottle's thoroughly cleaned - I have an Instant Pot cooker which is all but an autoclave in steam mode. Quote

I was trying to think of what else I could do with our paperweight! All I ever made with it is soups and well... that got boring after awhile. Quote
