Tumbler Wraps

When I first started in leather, I had a long distance mentor who suggested I practice my carving and stamping on tumbler wraps.  To this day, I still like to make these.  Here are a few I have made recently.

Very nice!  Would like to see how you sewed them too.  I made one similar to the top one.  In mine I put Fleur de Lis inside every other square to represent St. Louis.

Thanks!  I just use a simple lacing to close the back.  Would like to see yours if it is different.

I will post up some photos by tomorrow.  I use more of a flat stitch method.  Hard to describe, but looks like this...

I like that stitch.  What thickness of thread are you using?

That photo was just an example I found on the 'net.  It looks as though that person used a cord of some sort that was quite thick, maybe 2.0mm?

The instructions say to stitch from one end, then when you get to the opposite end, go ahead and stitch back alongside the first pass, doubling the thread.  I think it looks nice.

I would use a thin bungie, or elastic to make it super snug fit.

That's a good idea.  I lace them before placing on tumbler so it is a press fit.  They don't go anywhere.

That is what I have been using as it allows for different thicknesses of leather as well as different size bottles and cans. 2mm and I get it 100 metre rolls.

Let me know if you want a pattern.  These are fitted to the Ozark Trail 20 oz. tumblers sold by WM.  I sell the tumblers with the wrap.
