I tried my hand at a new skill: sand casting my own conchos. I would say the process was a tad more difficult to learn than I expected. However, after a couple of lightbulb moments (a few actually), I was able to churn them out pretty successfully. These are cast in tin, which is easy to melt and work with. I plan on making them in silver eventually.

Hi All, I am looking to buy some new double end snaps. In the past I used to buy Tandy Glove Snaps (which have a button end on both back and front when fitted) in bags of 100. I stocked up when the Tandy shop in Northampton was closing but I’ve now run out and I can only find bags of 10 at Tandy Europe. Does any one have any suggestions where I can find a suitable alternative in viable quantities, or do you think using rivets instead of the tops/bottoms would work? Thanks for reading 👍

I had a belt from Nacona leather.... maybe 20 years ago. It was leather with camo inlay and these 2 deer skull conchos. I kept them. Base this Keychain for my best friend and intended to make one for myself, but somehow my dad got it, and lost it. I really like the concho. I have a bit of a concho collection fetish and want to add this back into it. I have spent countless hours looking, tried contacting nacona and have come up completely empty handed. If anyone knows where, or if they're available I would appreciate the information. Thanks

Working on a new project, and I ran into the ole "what's this thing called" hurdle. Leather is going to be 1/2" wide, thickness to be determined on hardware if/when I can find this. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I was going to invest in a new snap setter for setting Pull the Dot fasteners. Is the DOT brand Snapmaster worth twice as much as the Pres-N-Snap tool? With all the anvils and the tool the DOT brand is over twice the cost of the the Pres-N-Snap. I don't mind spending more if I'm getting a better tool, but I hope someone on the forum has experience with both and can offer me some advice? Here are links: http://www.sailrite.com/dot-snapmaster-hand-press http://www.sailrite.com/Pres-N-Snap-Fastener-Tool

Hey everyone, I've made this belt probably around 5-6 years ago, but I completely forgot, where I got these buckle packs from - buckle, the ring and the strap end. On the back side it's written MADE IN SPAIN and i also have it in vintage brass color, but can't figure it out, where I got it from. The dimension is metric (40mm) and not imperial. Tandy doesn't have it on site nor I have found it in bills from Tandy I've got. LePrevo from UK neither has them, so it's gotta be someone else selling them.

Aluminum rivets 1 2

Has anyone used aluminum rivet and burrs? I was in Tandy this weekend and saw some for sale, it got me wondering about their strength and durability. They were marketed as decorative which is what sparked the question. I really like using copper rivets they are pretty strong and give a nice look; however when used with stainless hardware it clashes. Aluminum would solve this problem. I know aluminum is a reasonably strong metal so I think they would be fine but anyone with experience using them that has any input would be appreciated. If it helps my intended application for these would be for attaching buckles onto horse headstall or show cattle halters. Thank you …

I mostly make leather knife sheaths and I was trying to find a compact rivet to end the stitch lines. I like copper burr rivets, but the smallest available are still way too large. I have found a solution that works for me. Amazon sells assortments of metric copper rivets in flat-head and round-head versions. The range is 2mm, 2.5mm and 3mm shaft sizes https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CNCSHG3T https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CNCT42XG I found the washers on McMaster Carr. They are sold as #1, #2, and #3 copper flat washers https://www.mcmaster.com/97565A111/ https://www.mcmaster.com/97565A112/ https://www.mcmaster.com/93661A112…

You ever see a cool concho that you wish was a snap? I ground down the outer head of the concho screw to fit inside the snap head with a bench grinder and some filing. All it would need is a small drop of red locktight to make it permanent. This is going on the next knife sheath I make.
