Yes, how many coats of ProResist do you use to insure the antiquing doesn’t “stain” the other dye colors? I end up with a thin coat of antiquing color on parts of my work I don’t want antiqued. I use three coats and I’m not satisfied. Suggestions? Experiences? Thank you for al feedback. David

I have been dabbling in leatherwork for years, but never took it seriously or to the next level. Recently, I've found I have more time on my hands, and I want to get serious about improving my skills. Years ago, my father built me a great workbench to put in my tack room, but I just had tools randomly stored in the drawers. I've taken the time to sort things out and grouped my tools into "categories" (for a lack of a better term). Here's my question to all of you... How would you arrange these "categories" in your bench drawers? Sharpening Measure Cutting Skiving End Punches Press Punches Hole Punches Tooli…

I watched a video by Nigel Armitage Leather, on applying edge coat. While the edge coat was still wet, he burnished the edge. I have tried it and it works really good for my level. Now the dangerous point, I started thinking! would that also work for say an acrylic painted edge? Turns out, it does work well. I did a toconol finish and a waxing after letting the paint to dry. Durability? Don’t know, but it is on a working piece, so I will find out!…cheers!

Hi to everyone. I'm a noobie to this forum and a beginner leather worker. In the past, I fabricated some axe and hatchet masks as well as some knife sheaths. For the sewing"holes' I first stamped some holes with a 4 mm Craftool then drilled these out with a 5/64 bit in a drill press. I saddle stitched the pieces together with Tandy Harness Needles size 000 and some thick waxed thread of a size I no longer know. I would now like to fabricate some belts for friends and family. I've spent hours researching needle size and pricking irons and am now more confused than ever. Some (much?) of this confusion is due to the limited number of suppliers up here in …

Happy with Amann Serafil thread from @CowboyBob at Toledo Industrial Sewing Machine. It feeds well through my Cobra Class 26 and is a good color match (color #7766) for this vintage Louis Vuitton purse. Lots of colors to choose from besides my usual brown and black thread for horse tack. Made a new shoulder strap for this old purse and considering making other items in a brown/yellow color scheme.
