I’m making a wet molded pouch that is more or less square. I’ve got the form and the leather is in the shape I want but the corners are wonky. I’ve tried to search you tube but the videos I’ve found are for flat corners or gussets. There should be a way to make a cut that will result in a more square corner but I can’t figure it out. Project is the mid pouch on the back outside of a scout carry sheath where you would carry altoids tin or brass tinder box etc. Thanks to anyone who can assist. Bigs

I recently picked up four Indian Head nickles at an auction, got a good price for them. I was thinking about mounting them in a key fob blank. They measure about 7/8 of on inch in diameter. I was thinking of cutting a 3/4 inch hole in the center of two blanks. Then glue the two together with the nickle in the middle. Then stitch around it. I belong to a treasure hunting club and it would make a great gift or auction item. So my question is, what is the best way to cut the 3/4 inch hole? I've been searching on google, and there are plenty of cheap punch's. I do have a 5w laser engraver I could use. But I wanted to get your thoughts about this.

Hello, my name is Tobias and im from Germany (so please excuse my not perfect English). I love Backpacks and since I couldnt find the perfect one to buy online I wanna get one hand made for me. I already have someone willing to manufacture it but I obviously need to provide plans with meassurements. I know its supposed to be 40cm x 25cm x 20cm in size and made fully out of full grain buffalo leather with brass hardware. The backpack is supposed to last my whole life so it needs to be durable. While having an idea how it should look like I just cant get a full design I like. For example the front looks empty without a pocket but having a pocket that is usable means it…

Any tips for hiding staples? I've owned a loop stapler for a few years and never used it. Now, I'd like to start for certain jobs. I've tried using a gouge, a channeler and the best result I've gotten has been with a razor blade held on an angle. Any tips? Do I need to glue the cut before pressing the loop? Picture is of one strap I used the razor blade on( its stapled)the other is of an antique box loop with staples. The new one is not glued or pressed, I was just trying things out. Thanks for any help!

I recently acquired a set of 3 Italian suitcases made by Prada from the early 1970s. Structurally they’re in great shape and their surprise Polo green interior is in excellent condition, however there is quite a bit of black marks and spots. From what I understand these are Saffiano leather, developed by Prada, it’s heat stamped down and then a coating is put on it to make it very durable. I’ve had very little luck using a PH balanced mild cleaner like Howard. Not sure what my expectations should be. Lots of contradictory advice online on whether you can use a conditioner or color balm. I’d like to restore them to the best possible they can look. How do …

Hey everyone! I am starting a new dufflebag project and wondering what kind of leather and technique would be best to realise the shape i want. Is wet forming the best technique to use to get the exact rigid shape shown here? Or should i simply incorporate metal wiring in the seams to get the shape? Also, I do like the uniformity of chrome tanned leather but reading that vegtan seems better for wet forming. Would love some advice on this project before buying everything. Thanks a lot!

Hi there! I am so excited to bring my questions to this forum because I have been doing lots of research and I want to find out from the true experts what the truth is. I am car nerd, but not a sewing one yet, so I hope to learn from you all so I can expand my knowledge. I am starting my own leather/clothing brand and part of what I am making employs a tactic from the brand "Chrome Hearts". I have already purchased steel dies and a press to cut the leather. Now I want to sew it on denim and maybe leather pants/jackets, but I want to achieve a similar look to how Chrome Hearts sews on their letters. I will attach some pictures, but I will also clearly state my questio…

Hello! I thought Id be clever to use double sided tape on the flesh side for a template and then apply neatfoot oil. Unfortunately, the residue shows up through the neatsfoot oil even on some of the "clean" removals. I had a very long bendy piece of leather where there is a lot of the residue and I have no idea how to get it off. (Yes in hindsight, I shouldve stuck it on the back and poked through for holes but alas)

Hello Leatherworkers! I’m reaching out to those with more experience in English saddlery than I have — I need some advice! My dog needs a new harness. Sounds simple, right? But it’s turned into quite the project, and I wanted to share my approach to see what others think. About my dog: 2 ½ years old, medium-sized (~40 cm shoulder height, ~20 kg) Very fine-boned, which makes fitting tricky Her current harness is always too short. No matter how I adjust it, it slips over her shoulders and restricts her movement. She mostly wears it for nose-work at hunter dog school (long-leash) or jogging with us, but I just can’t settle for “g…
