Who make quality oblong bag punches 1 3/4" x 3/8"
craftsman827 replied to spurdude101's topic in Leather Tools
OLESKIVER is right ! Osborne makes the best oblong punches anywhere !! They aint cheap ! -
I'm looking for Robert Beard's tool page showing imprints of all the different tools (stamps) he makes. I had the site , but the page won't load any more . Does anyone have a photo of the pages ?

Thanks for your input ! Price isn't much less than Hermann Oak. So I guess it isn't worth it .

I just heard about Chahin Leather. Has anyone used this veg tanned leather ? Some people say it is as good as Hermann Oak. Tanned in Mexico. Looked at a video on, how the leather is tanned, and they tan it the old way, like Hermann Oak does.

Gary, I had that one also from years ago, The metal part broke. The new one is made out of wood, the black one, and it stripped . I tried gorilla glue, & it seems to be holding. Tandy makes crap tools now !

I'm looking to purchase a new awl haft. I have an Osborne #143 & it is fine. Been using it for years. Recently I purchased Tandy's " pro awl", which broke in 1 month ! The whole metal part comes out when I tighten the blade. Just like some suggestions on which hafts you all use. I like trying new & better tools. What awls do you all use ?

Inline Cowboy presser feet on Cowboy CB4500
craftsman827 replied to Wizcrafts's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Thank you for all your help Wiz. What machine are you using the inline foot on ? I have to choose a machine, my first. So many to choose from. I'm racking my brain. I make dog collars & leads, belts, wallets, what is a good machine to sew two layers of up to 10 oz. leather ? Do I need a flat bed, or cylinder arm ? -
In-line presser foot for Pfaff 335, 1245, etc.
craftsman827 replied to Uwe's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Uwe, Great tutorial on making the custom presser foot. I'm the one who started the thread. I make a lot of studded dog collars & leads, all hand sewn. Now I'm doing my leather work full time since I retired from my day job. So I was thinking of getting a sewing machine. It will be my first machine, any suggestions ? -
I'm looking to purchase a sewing machine. I've been working with leather for over 40 years. Now full time, I can't keep up with the hand sewing. I make a lot of dog collars, leads, & harnesses. Problem is which machine to purchase, that can stitch close to the edge. A lot of the collars have spots on them. I enclosed a photo so you can see what I mean. Do I need a special foot to get around the studs, & sew on the edge ? Two layers of 8/10 oz.

I just purchased an old CSO & Co #6 overstitch tool from , vintage tools. It has "CSO&CO" printed on the tool, not "CS Osborne", is there a difference ? What a difference between this tool & the ones I've been using. Now I want to get a #5 overstitch tool. Who makes, or made the best between, Gomph, CS Osborne, HF Osborne, & Jeremiah Watts ? Any input appreciated.
