I like working with my hands. I like creating functional beauty from materials that draw my eye in the first place. I don't have a knack for creating something from nothing, but with something interesting I can create something more interesting and useful. I'll do more with exotics than I will figure carving. I'm neither a traditionalist nor a purist, and I prefer violating established ways of doing things in order to discover something new, be it a technique, combination, or item never before seen in nature. I also love the smell of leather. 

While I think it would be nice to profit from this hobby eventually, I consider myself in the "practicing" stage. If I think I know how to do something, then I'll do it differently the next time. I give away most of what I make, and I have a list of things I want to make in order to give away that I can't keep up with. That sewing machine will help with this a lot.
