Folks....I have bought several sewing machines for upholstery and leather work over the past few years, is there ( other than our forum ) a good place to sell and buy a used leather sewing machine...web, stores or other locations... Some of us own more then one machines and need to sell or buy to down or up size the shop. I am selling my mint SINGER 111/155 right now and a near new ADLER 267-373 all with table/motor and such...just wondering where else to go and find buyers or even sellers I can trust.... Maybe some of you here have good sources or info for the rest of us. I know there are comercial members on this forum, I am more looking for alternative sources.... Greetings

Been busy last few month, beside 12 hour swing shift and lots of overtime...had no time to post nor to even go to the forum. Here just a fraction of things I made, Buscadero style Western rig, tuckable IWB holster, a special project of a IWB with integrated aluminium plate to angle or move up and down your belt clip!!!....a sort of period civil war belt and knife sheat, a close up on the first mentioned Western holster with knife scabbard and bullet loops....the knife is actually a very modern tactical fighting knife....I had to hide the ugly super tactical looking Kydex sheat under a nice western style saddle leather cover....!!! Hope ya all like it....

First Project: Carry On Luggage
Jimbob replied to Magnus a's topic in Satchels, Luggage and Briefcases
your very first project ever....hmmmm...pretty neat....I guess all these 200+ years of combined experience over many years on this forum here mean nothing if you just jump right straight in and try your skills.........hahaa... -
cut it and see if the cut is greenish or grey, or put flame/lighter under it and u will also see green or greyish fume....sense it is chrome tan!! Snipp a small piece off and boil it in hot water short time it will curll up like a pigs tail....this is veg tan!! Easy!! U will have 100% sure some chrome tan leather, maybe oil tanned or such....

Best Way To Rivet A Clip?
Jimbob replied to tnhomestead's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
No rivet, metal or any copper shoud ever be exposed to the inside of any holster.....at least not where the actual barrel or slide draws in and out....NEVER!! As been said, use a seperate piece of leather, maybe even Kydex and sew it to the outside of your holster, attach your clip on that...rivet, sew or glue, but alsways an extra layer to hide metal and to reinforce your work....period!! Hope that makes sense.... James -
Adler 105-64 Lost Bottom Thread Tension..?
Jimbob replied to Jimbob's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Thanks for the info....need to check that out...inside the barrel there is a spiral spring and it seems just to sit in there....I need to check this half wrap around metal where the bottom thread exits and see why there is maybe no more pressure...not sure, have to take out the hole "Schiffchen" and clean it out....this Adler 105 has been a VERY good one for many years now since I owned it !!! Vielen Dank und Gruesse nach Deutschland James -
Just changed bobbin bottom thread on my ADLER 105-64....suddenly, I realized my bottom tension was completly off....grabbed a small screw driver and tried to adjust the tension at the front of the bobbin barrel...screw goes all the way in....still no tension....hmmmm....what happened..? As I see the screw does bind down on the bottom of axel of the bobbin carrier and thats how you get tension?? Not sure....need a few hints, I am sure I am overlooking something....spring is in the barrel....now running with extreem loose top thread to compensate....ok on thick leather....but thinner stuff will show loose thread loops....cant figger that one out....any ideas.......thanks!!
