I have a few he made for me. Good quality stuff. My only complaint is that his knurling on the stem is aggressive, it's a bit rough on my fingers. But I am planning to buy some of his figure bevelers I the near future.

I found this useful regarding the JJ needles and common threads: Size 4 (004)- Smallest Needles (length 48 mm/Outer diameter 0.9 mm ) • Lin Cable - Pairs with 532, 632, 832 • Tiger Thread - Pairs with 0.6mm Size 2 (002) needle • Lin Cable: Pairs with 332 & 432 • Tiger Thread: Pairs with 0.8mm Size 0 (1/0) needle • Lin Cable: Pairs with 332 • Tiger Thread: Pairs with 1.0 mm Size 00 (also known as 2/0) needle •Pairs with thread 1.0mm to 1.2mm Size 000 (3/0) needle •Pairs with thread > 1.2mm

I believe the 1/0, 2/0, and 3/0 is shorthand for 0, 00, and 000. So the needles are like gauges of wire (or shotgun shells) - they go from the smallest (4 or 004) to largest (3/0 or 000).

I realize this is an old thread, but I have been looking for something like this for a long time. Please tell me how you made it. I was in Springfield Leather a few weeks back (first time), but forgot to look at the Sof-Grip rack. And, as you said, it is too small for my needs. Are there rigid dividers covered in foam, covered in suede? If so, what type and weight of foam? Is it fixed or floating? If fixed, how? Do you have any tips/tricks/advice for someone trying to make one? Thanks, Steve Crumbaugh

I am very happy to have discovered this forum and fellow leather workers with such depth and breadth of experience. I hope that at some point I will have something to contribute in return. I recently returned to my childhood interest in leatherwork (even found my old tools), and joined the Prairie States Leather Guild. Like so many of us hobbyists, I have the tools and leather, now I just need to make the time. As my screen name suggests, I am a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 270 in Mount Prospect, IL. I am currently looking for a set of Russian letter leather stamps. Does anyone know of a source for alphabet stamps or something like the Tandy Alphabet Craftaids in languages other than those produced by Tandy (English, Hebrew, Runes)? Been all over the web, several auction sites, some Russian language sites, but can't find anything. Thanks, Steve.
