Hi Dave! You have great work and a great idea. I've always been wanting to try out some tatoo designs on leather, but never got around to collecting tatoo graphics yet. I'm all with you on this-moving another step beyond the conventional way of doing leather work! As a matter of fact, I've been doing leather work for umptin years now and I have never heard of Al Stohlman nor Sheridan till I recently got into these leather artisans forums.LOL! Though I am not from the Northern California area, nor close to it at all,I hope you are not closing your doors on me, LOL! for I could say, I am a progressive leather artisan, eversince my romance with leather begun Keep pounding, keep painting Rhona Baguio, Philippines rhonacarantes@multiply.com

rhona replied to Storm's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Very neat work! Let me guess... you must have had an original drawing, altered the lines out a bit, and carved it the way you wanted, avoiding the conventional, and making it look more like your own...thumbs up! Rhona -
Yes yes to these key fobs!! I like the diluted brown shade. Nice choice of conchos too! very neat job! rhona

Hi Tom Thanks for your time and thanks for your reply. Sure I can wait I'm not going anywhere LOL.. I noticed you make guitar straps, too. I have made a few guitar straps myself. Four brothers and a sister (who lives in California) are musicians. They used to have a band together. My sis, Makee plays bass guitar, and is beginning to get hooked on leather work. Needless to say who her inspiration was! Ahem! However, I wish to find out what the best features of a guitar strap people are looking for, the thickness of width,( I know bass guitars usually have a thicker width), lined or unlined, padded or not, that sort of stuff. Design -wise, no problem. I also would like to have an idea how much people would pay for something like this Hey, I have taken much of your time already! Blah! To view some of my guitar straps and more of my work, may I invite you to my FaceBook and Multiply sites? Look up rhonacarantes.. A webpage that will contain a collection of my friend's blades (of which I am the company's official sheath-maker), my twin daughter's artwork and paintings, paintings of my bladesmith friend, and my leather work, is underway, and i hope in the next couple of weeks will be ready for launching. I will let you know I still have to check out your work, somehow in the process of looking for them, I always get distracted with something along the way! So much useful info here ! i have noted your email add. mine is rhonacarantes@yahoo.com. you may email me too, if you wish.. Thank you so much for your time.. More later.. Have a great day! Rhona

You went through doing leather work on your own too? hey, tell me about it !! I would love to view your work! I'll look for them Have a great day ! POWER TO LW!! Rhona Baguio, Philippines

Hi, May I ask how big are these pieces you are paying for, at a starting price of US $12? Is it going to be carved, handpainted? What is it going to be used for? would there be any stitching done, etc. I do very large, very detailed artwork. Thank you. rhona Baguio City, Philippines

Hi Adam, I am a newbie here, but not with leather. I work with lots and lots of colors, and I dont do conventional work. Check out my items that's just been uploded yesterday. However, I live in the Philippines. If distance is no problem with you, lets see where we can take it from here.. rhona

Hi Denise thank you for welcoming me in the community , and thank you for appreciating my work. I am looking forward to meeting other artisans and I'm interested to see what everyone does ) rhona

Hi Robert, Any luck yet? Interesting concept for a bag, interesting material. Lets see if I understood this right. All you want is, to give the artisan the piece of material and design to carve, color and paint. It goes back to you, and all you have to do is attach the finished artwork to your bag and take it from there, that right? I'm a newbie in this group, but not new to leather. In fact, I have just uploded a few photos of my work a couple of hours ago and I'm still waiting for it to show up. I love tatoo graphic designs and I sure would love to give your idea a try, however, I live in Baguio City, Philippines - one off, huh? But if distance does not deter you from pursuing a new concept on your project, see where it goes from here? Best, rhona

NEWB rhona's Art-sheaths, clocks, pencases, knife cases and anything in leather. Baguio, Philippines A friendly hello to one and all! I wish to express my heartfelt thank you to that wonderfull lady, Johanna, who conceived this site for all of us to share, inspire, and grow together in Leatherland. I am one of a handful of leather artisans from my hometown and country, Baguio City, Philippines. I am a self-taught leather artisan, by trial and error methods, experimentation, and common sense, which folks say isn't common. I haven't had any contact with other leather artisans, was self-sufficient all these times about twenty or so years. Working alone in Twighlight Zone, I chanced upon this website as I was reading some messages on flasah. Along came Johanna's message, clicked on this site, and was surprised to have opened a door to see an almighty world of leather artisans out here.. I am happy and thankful to have stumbled on this site that have the answers and tips to my questions on : the how to's on braiding, pricing one's items, and hopefully be able to connect with more clients . I also wish to be of help to anyone where I can.. I look forward to great times ahead for all! Rhona Baguio City, Philippines

Hey, hey...relax, Pete ) vege-tanned, chrome-tanned, brain-tanned, and what have you's, LOL! personally, for me, I wouldnt risk using any of the above as a lining!! I would use a good quality synthetic to play on the safe side. But whatever you decide, best of luck! ) Rhona

unidirectional snaps
rhona replied to sfav8r's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Hi Ranger. Though I make sheaths, I cant help you on this because I live in the Philippines! ) ,and I myself have been looking for a source for the "pull the dot" type as mentioned by Sam. Sam's advice will suffice, and better still if someone adds more info to your query. I dont think these things are difficult or rare to find from your part of the globe. Good day and have fun on your projects ) rhona
