I don't have any extra feet but i got 6 extra plates with my #3 when I bought it. They all have a few nicks around the slot but they would work fine. They are as good or better than the one on my #3.Let me know if you are interested. I like to trade. Got anything I could use ?--------------Bill

If you get in a pinch, I have a pair of used 3" Conways. They have 3 posts. One of the outside posts is broke off. It's the only set I have ever seen in my shop, they must be pretty rare. I would sell or trade them for something I need. Good luck-----------------------Bill

I have a saddle repair shop and I end up with lots of scraps of sheep wool skins from re-fleecing saddles. I have alway thought they would make a fine pair of slippers. Anyone out there have a pattern that would work for that ? Or, what do others do with their scraps?? Thanks-------------------Bill

I bought some leather hand tools at an aution and this shoe/boot equipment came with the deal. I have no use for it so I would like to sell or trade it for something I could use. Anyone out there have a use for this? There is a brass tag on the press that reads Karlson's Klister manufacturing Company, Rockford Illinois. Hope I attached the picture right, I'm not too good at this. -----------------Bill

Lee, I think it is part of a device used for holding a horses mouth open for dental work. There should be another part just like that only mirror image, and on those studs should be a mouth piece that goes over the front teeth. It also would have leather staps that held it on to the horses head. You put it on just like a bridle. Then it is racheted open to work on the teeth. I believe it is called a speculum...??? ---------------------Bill

The foot lifts about an inch , but it is hard to tell because there is no lift lever (it is missing ) Mine has also been converted to a table. --------------------------Bill

There must be a surplus of class 7 machines in SD. I also picked one up a while back . It should work good for your canvas bags, from the info I have gathered , that is what they were used for. Mine is a 7-5. I wonder what the difference is ? I'm guessing mine is older ??? My wife printed off an instruction manual for a class 7 for me , let me know if you need it and i'll find the web site for you. I have been looking for a lift arm for mine as it is missing. so I can't use it . Know of any parts machines ??? I'm in eastern SD , Where are you ? -------------------Bill

I have a little short stubby awl haft and a short diamond shank awl with the tip broke off that I use to push the old stiches out from the bottom. That is, after I stick a knife in between the old fleece and the skirt and cut the threads off. That works pretty good for me. Good Luck!--------------Bill -
I picked up a 7-5 a while back . I wonder what the difference is ? I can't seem to find much info on mine although I think it has what is called a vibrating presser foot. I am also missing the presser foot lift handle. I see yours has it . If you run across a class 7 for parts I would be int. in the lift arm. Good luck with your machine. -------------Bill

I have had them hanging in my shop now for about 10 years, hoping some one could identify them . I have rebuilt 3 McClellan saddles for customers, but none of them had any conways like these. I was hoping someone on this Forum could help. Thanks for the response, keep them coming. ------------------Bill

I picked these buckles up in a can of junk I bought at a farm sale here in SD. Just wondering if any one that uses this sight has ever seen any like it. They are chrome or nickle plated over brass or bronze , and a 1 1/8 " strap just fits in it snug. I was thinking maybe they are McClellan (military) or maybe McCormick who made farm machinery, but maybe they made harness too !!??? Any ideas ???? I've attached some pictures. Thanks-------------Bill

Could you tell me what you mean by pre letter and pre number ? I have some of those older tools. I'm guessing they are better quality ??? ( I might learn something here !) Thanks--------------Bill

Jim, I have used nylon thread from Weaver for 13 years now and have not had a problem in my Adler 105-64. But I also have a Landis #1 and a #3. Now that is a different story ! The #3 is a wonderful machine, when it's working. It is real temperamental. It'll sew along nice for a long time, and then go into convulsions and ruin a nice piece. But, maybe its my thread. I am in the process of getting my #1 up and running, and was told on this forum not to use nylon in it. So, maybe that is the problem with the #3 also....??? Anyway that has been my experience with nylon, It seems to work great in the Adler but I have not used anything else so I have nothing to compare it to. What type of machine are you using ? Good Luck !---------------Bill

My first machine I bought when I started was an Adler 105-64. I bought it used 13 years ago. It is my main machine. I use it nearly every day. All it ever needs is a new needle now and then. (pilot error) Oil and thread. Great Machine---------------Bill

Again, Thanks for all the information guys. Now , does anyone have or know where I can get pricker feet for my Landis #1 ? Something suitable for harness work ? I am useing a #7 in my Landis #3 right now. Does that seem about right ? Thanks-------------------Bill

It sure is nice to talk to people who are interested in the same things I am ! OK, I shortened the belt some more and someone told me to rub it with bees wax. So I did that and it seems like it's not slipping any more. A package of needles came with the machine, it says Schmetz 331 LR. (I have no idea what that means) There are a few 200 and a few 230. No, I do not have the wax pot on my #1 but the #3 does, only I don't use any lubricant in it. Maybe I should though because Yes I do use nylon thread in all my machines. I thought everyone did these days ! What's wrong with nylon ? Also I have a question on the presser foot of my #1. My #3 has points on the bottom of the foot that match up with the stitch length you want. Should my #1 have the points on the bottom of the foot also because it doesn't. It is smooth ! I sure appreciate everyones input on my old Landis. Keep it coming, I'm learning alot!!! Thanks---------------Bill

Thanks guys for the reply on my Landis #1. Now I will tell you the whole story. I bought it from a gal here in South Dakota, it had been sitting in a shed for several years. I cleaned it up and oiled it and oiled it some more. It sews good on about 2 layers of 10 oz. harness leather, but I bought it with intentions of sewing tugs because I do a lot of repair work on Draft horse harness in this area. I said I oiled it alot because it seems like it is tight. Like it doesn't free wheel like it should. I also have a Landis #3 with a motor on it , when you get that flywheel going , it's hard to stop! But I have a lot of problems with the #3 also. Thats another issue I'll have to ask about sometime. I would appreciate any advice I could get on getting my #1 to sew good, I'm going to try tightening the belt right now until it breaks, and then I'll buy a new one ! Thanks again------------Bill

I have a Landis #1 Stitcher that is set up with the old pedal drive. When I try to sew with it the belt slips. I have shortened the belt twice, it helped some, ----how tight should it be ? Do I need some type of belt dressing ? Also, Shall I keep peddling or is it best to convert these old machines over to run with a clutch motor ? Any one have any suggestions on this machine ? Thanks----------------Bill

Bob, I have a 29-4 and a 29-K-60. I was told they were only designed to use 69 thread. Looks like in the picture yours has heavier thread than that. Is it? Maybe you modified something ? Thanks, Bill Lazy D Saddlery
