I have bought from W&C for over a year... always was satisifed with the Skirting I bought. BUT... I always bought BIG and had it split to the size I really wanted! So, I ordered in November or early december, a few English Bridle BACKS. I ordered 10-12 oz. The black one was very nice, avg weight throughout was 10.5 - 11... nice. The chestnut they sent was 8.5-9.... maybe the heaviest was 9.75... NOT good. Sadly, I had run it through a strap cutter before I realized the chestnut was way undersized. I was told "sorry, we'll give you a discount next time"... oh, super. ha ha So..... 3 weeks later I go for 3 hides.... this time, I got a huge discount... $20 off! woo hoo!! and all three hides were WAY undersized and...... instead of backs, they were sides. I get my backs with a straight edge down the bone as they say.... these came with a straight edge down the bone all right, but they were then 4 feet wide.... that's a purty big steer! Sizes went from 6.25 to 11.... mostly in the 8.5 range.... It's not even worth the time to call... I'll hear the same BS.... "we'll give you a discount next time".. WTF? So, anyone have any good recommendations for English Bridle Backs? I'm done with W&C...... I hope their business hurts as much as they are hurting mine. Hard to fill orderes when your supplier blows.

Would this be something just for foil stamping or did they make other items too? I got a call to see if I want one.... now I just need to learn what it is. I don't have a model number so I have no idea if they made anything other than for Gold Leaf type embossing. Not sure a holster maker would have a need for one of these or not! Anyone know? Thanks

Hate To Let This One Go..
ShortBBL replied to Eaglestroker's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I agree it looks very nicely done!! I'd make one change if I was going to make one..... the Butt should really be sticking out a little, even if only 1/2" or 1". I could be wrong, but I have never seen one that goes right down to the end of the stock like this one. Again, beautiful work!! Jon -
I'm curious if there is any GOOD glue/cement that will work well for holster making, yet be safe to work around in "not-so-perfect" ventalation areas? I use Barge cement which of course works great, but... it is REALLY a stinky (non-safe_ stuff for long term smelling. My shop is in my basement too and I think this stuff could be not so safe on the same level as the furnace is on! Any alternatives that are safe and work good!? Thanks for your ideas!

George:
Did you ever have the local guy do a review on your stuff? Is his name Jeff by the way? He offered to do a review of my work too... sent him two custom holsters and he wrote one line about them in a 1911 article and then showed 1 picture of mine and about 8 of his Alaska pals holsters. I got one sale from the thing.
I'm guessing it's the same guy. I just wo...

Several Sheath From Russia
ShortBBL replied to ioann's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Ivan! Privet Droog! I lived in Sochi for two years and loved it there... I have been to Moscow many times and have been in many southern cities like Krasnodar, Tuapse and many more. Your knives and sheaths look super! Thank you for showing them to us and welcome! Джон -
I use a few holster patterns over and over and they get worn out fast. Is there anyone you can point me to who makes templates out of a platic type material? I'd also like stitch lines cut into the template so those could easily be marked on the leather as well. Any ideas? Thanks!

I've had a few of them for about a year! Got them from an old timer who made sheaths. They were/are grey before I dyed them. I have dyed them either black or dark brown and they turn out nice! Thanks for the comments!

Thanks guys! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. This is my first of this kind. Now I need to try some other exotic pieces. I like it....
