I was just looking into this myself. Do a search on youtube (sorry, I cant remember what they said or I would just tell you myself), there are a couple of informative videos on leather mask making. Yea the designs arent what you or I would probably want but the technics are the same. I think they said 3-4oz, but dont quote me on that. I do know that theirs did look a little on the thin side to me, but havent made one myself so I wouldnt know.

I like it, you gave me some ideas for a project of my own. I know you got some good feedback on your sewing, but to me it just adds character and shows that it was hand made, but thats just me. I do have to agree with the above post about edge paing. Never was a big fan, but again thats just me. I think it looks great and someone is going to get alot of good years out of it.

first actual project since about15 years ago. Not bad, but plenty of room for improvement. No this wallet isnt for me. Im not quite that hardcore...lol

Does anyone else make a biker or trucker wallet kit other than the kind that tandy offers? I have found several websites that offer them, but they are all the same kit.

And they probably are here as well... It just seems like some of the things I look for seem a bit pricey, but I always look for things in kits, and I tend to think everything is a little pricey

Hey Wes, Welcome to the board! I was reading your other post regarding making this holter, and I have no doubt you will be 100% successful. If you can you should take lots of photographs during this project, and let us see how it is coming along. I for one would be interested in seeing it. And defiantly post some photos of the finished holster. Again... Welcome to the board

Thank you all for the replies. Very informative. Gregory B. Moody, By all means... Anytime you see a post by me... Please feel more than welcome to "answer questions people did not ask". You answered questions I did not even know to ask. The saddle soap on the lace before starting for example... Never even thought of that, but it makes so much sense. Thank you Sidney Wood, Sidney, My past couple of projects I have used the Cardoba patterns, but my latest I have taken a stap at a round lacing pattern. And although I have to admit I really like the overall look. After reading Gregory B's reply I have to wonder if this is cost effective. For now (for me anyway) thats not a major concern because I am not using the 40.00 a roll roo lace, but as I hope to get better I am sure I will be moving up to that. Again, Thanks everyone for the replies, and will be looking for those books. Sounds like another trip to Tandys is in my near future, and a search on ebay...LOL... Thanks

Okay this is really going to show how green I am. (made a wallet in highschool years and years ago, but one I cant remember what we used back then... two... it really didnt look all that good when I was done... and three... Im sure they have come out with alot more products that are better to use now even if I could remember what I used way back then) On a wallet what type, or brand of dye would you all recommend, and would I need to apply anything other than the dye for a wallet. Going for the dark shade with the antique leather look if that helps. Suggestions appreciated.

Welcome to the board. Im new here as well, but it sounds like we have something in common. Im working on a seat for my bike as well. You should post some pics of those bar stools. I would like to seem them as I am sure the other members here would also. Again.. Welcome to the site

Just finished this last night. Not much leather work, but there is some leather so I thought you might be interested. Few things I learned on this project. 1. Alligator print cowhide really isnt thick enough to pull on once you punch holes in it. 2. 3M 77 adhisive sticks really well to foam, but not all that well to cowhide. 3. Put long sleeves on if you plan on sanding carbon fiber. Think fiberglass. (I actually knew this one already, but never seem to do it in 110deg weather. So the leather didnt quite set the way I wanted, but all in all I am pretty happy with the end result. Next seat will defiantly be some tooled leather
