Here's an idea.....those that want to use leather business cards - use them, those that want to use paper cards - use them, and those that do not want to give out business cards period - don't. There....now it is 2013 and time to move on and begin fresh. Happy New Year to everyone! -

At some point we all feel this way. You have to remember that many on have years and years of experience. Regardless of what was said, I guarantee you they have made their share of mistakes, that is how you learn. I started at 13 with my grandpa and am now 48 and still feel like my work is not to par with some on here but you know what...I sell the stuff and do well and receive great compliments. Don't give up...keep trying and before you know it you will be on your way..... -

Just wanted to say that my dad, 67 years old passed away Wednesday. Please keep my family in your prayers as this is one of the hardest things I think I have ever had happen to me. He was my best friend and very instrumental in getting me started in leatherwork. RIP DAD I love you.

Yep the background tool is a little difficult at first.....keeping the same amount of pressure constant is tough...but the key is to rotate the tool in your fingers while striking the tool so as to vary the pattern....also try getting a bigger background tool to cover large areas while using the tool such as A104 from Tandy to get into the small places....I have approximately 25 different background tools from various suppliers....and I use every one of them.

Congratulations! Just remember to practice on scrap leather prior to making your cuts on the real thing. Rounders are a good choice when it comes to practicing.....the swivel knife takes a little while to master but once it is....Katie bar the door! Have fun and be patient....patient....patient.....when frustrated (and you will) get up walk away and then come back! Merry Christmas! Jeff

After I dye an item and wipe the dry pigment off, I then use a cloth like a baby diaper (cloth), denim jeans cut in pieces for rags and buff the item. I then spray with Super Sheen and let it dry. I do not buff it out after I spray it. Buff prior to spraying with any type of sheen. Also, apply two or three coats of the Super Sheen. I have never had any items returned or complaints about dye bleeding through.

I am sure this is simple for most and thought it was for me..... When you glue an item, such as a wallet to cardboard in order to carve it so it will not stretch how do you remove it? I use rubber cement but everytime I remove it, the paper sticks and I can't get it to come off. What suggestions do you professionals have out there? I know I am doing something wrong... Thanks, jeff

Well I tell ya...they didn't specify. Just asked me to see if I could make one for them. If you could post a pic and then I can tell you ...or if you have a pattern that you could send me, I can scale it either larger or smaller.

I am trying to find out if anyone has a pattern for a drawstring purse.....not a stirrup purse. I know it has a round bottom and suede is sewn to the bottom. Eyelet holes around top with round lace drawstring.....I can't seem to fnd one anywhere..... Your help is appreciated. Also, I have a customer that would like a purse made from Zebra but without hair-------can't seem to find any leather like that except the 100% PVC type....which I would have to glue to the regular leather.....any thoughts? Thanks, Jeff
