I got a project to finish, the problem is that I will like to dye the leather light brown and apply paint to a section of the project. Here is where I'm confused; Shall I paint the project first then dye, or dye the whole project then paint and apply the finish. For dyeing I will be using Fiebing's Dye or eco-flow gel and for paint I will be using eco-flow. Thanks for your help. Lou

How do you guys down size the pattern? I like to put a carving in a bussiness card wallet, the problem is that the carving is to big. Can I use a printer to resize the pattern? Thanks. Lou

Thanks for the information. I just happen to get some old tools from e-bay and in the lot there was a B60, 892 and 935. the all look similar to the 60. I don't know if they are undershot but they are small bevels. King, what kind of modification you have to do to use get good result with the 60? Rusty I did a serch in sprinfield leather and couldn't find the leaf liner. I found the petal lister. How do you use that petal lifter? Thanks

Ok, I have been reading the Sheridan style carving book by Bill Gardner. In the book he make reference to undershot and leafliners stamps. Here is my question browsing in the diferents soueces of tamps I don't see either. What do you guys use to in place of these tools? Lou

Pancale Holster Help
Louro replied to Louro's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
To all that reply, thanks. I have been very busy lately, I mange to make the template but it looks kind of big to me, will see. Lobo, you said to add .5 inch is that both ways from the center line? regards -
Hi, there guys I'm new to this forum so I need a little help with a pancake holster that I want to make for my 1911. I got everything pretty much figure out except the cant (angle). Is there is formula/method to determine the proper cant. I made the pattern out of poster board but when I transferred to the leather the cant didn't came out the way that I had hoped. Can I get some pointers in this area? Thanks Lou

Ok, Ladies and gentleman I'm new to leather working, I have been stamping just around a month. No projects yet just getting the feel for it mainly scrap leather. I have been browsing this site for about a week, and I got to handle it to you fellows a lot of beautiful work, some which I find museum quality. So here is my question; before I found this site I thought that T-store was the source for buying quality tools. I'm in the market for some awl and fid to do some sewing and just got reading a thread about how bad the T-store awl quality are. So can someone point me in the right direction to get a good (not necessary to of the line) quality awl. Thanks Lou
