I want to make a new gun belt. Question on good total leather weight and lining material for a 1-1/2", pretty stiff belt.. Will hand stitch, stain and finish. Two layers of same material? Or one heavy and one light.? When done hope to have natural to tan color w/near white thread. oh yeh. what thread weight/type.

O.K. I do not need to be told how stupid this is, or warned about what i'm getting into. I'm old, senile even, but an experienced business man (retired) looking to buy all the tools. supplies, junk, odds and ends, even shipping boxes ect. of an existing shop from a retirement minded craftsman, or just a tired one. I'm capable of buying, if the price is right, what I want (not rich, just stupid and excited) ANY IDEAS?
